In some absolutely spectacular news - my HC is now higher than SullGolf and I believe I'm getting a stroke from him on Sat if we play the blues.

I'm 3.1 at Grint. 2.8 at MSGA. I think it's entirely due to combining 9 hole rounds. most of my worst scores are from my home club -- which I love. Means the course is rated too low (for me) or mostly it's just because it's playing so tough these days. It still almost has standing water out there. A guy told me yesterday he quit after 6 holes because it was so bad.

 

it's disappointing, but it is what it is.

I too am on a quest to be able to play straight up with Sully. Since he refuses to live up to the hype and bring his cap down, I will be trending mine upwards. I got off to a solid start posting an 11.7 differential on Tuesday. Unfortunately, not to be outdone, Sully posted a 25.3 differential.

Yeah, pretty much. Ball is still bouncing back a foot on drives.

 

There are places where there's still water RUNNING across cart paths. It's coming from an area where there are "internal" houses. I'm actually wondering if there's a water main break up there or something.

 

It sits low and flat, along a small stream, and the soil is clayey/muddy, about as far from "sandy' as you can get. Apparently the greens there used to not drain and they've fixed that but everywhere else is a problem.

In true "Let's save money for the club" fashion, when you win your flight at Member Guest- all 14 or so flights get announced, and you all have to hold the trophy for the photos. Thing is, you all pose with the same two crystal trophies/vases/vessels, and you get yours to take home later. So we try to not have 14 pairs of grimy fingerprints for the last flight of two 30 caps playing together. Common courtesy!

Though it does look a rather feminine pose. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Wife decided today to book the Pinehurst trip that Golfers Journal is running for the end of September. Coming in a day early to play Pine Needles, preview round on #4 and then #2 the next day. Zipping home Friday night to catch the Ryder Cup Saturday - which on Paris time - should be nice and early.
