Had a 6:30am tee time at PB Dye this morning. That’s a fun but really tough course. Greens were a bit on the slow side though. Course was in really good shape. It was my first time there and I’d definitely go back. I hit the ball okay overall but had a few wayward tee shots and lost a few balls. Was a gorgeous day out too. I was able to play Brambleton after work on Friday too so overall it was a great golfing weekend.

Just got home from golf and many beers at Little Bennett w/ CFree and Top.h. It’s playing as tricky as ever. Insider tip:

 

Hole 3 and hole 9 have the typical whites tee box ripped up. Both holes play closer as a result.

 

My game was a mixed bag, carded an 88 with an 11 on one hole. Hit some high booming draws off the tee to satisfy my need to live up to my screen name. All three of us were vibing and thoroughly enjoying ourselves. Can’t wait for Thursday.

Looking possible my lesson is going to be rained out Tuesday afternoon and its a couple weeks before she has more open times. Considering taking Thursday off to do it in the AM, weather looks great and I really dont feel like waiting a couple more weeks.

Biggest loser was people who had to watch the Fox coverage. Thought it was a huge step back from previous years. Th/Fr they only showed Tiger's group for 80% of the coverage. The sound quality has sucked for the most part incl skipping audio or muting the close proximity mics after almost every shot. There were shots - even today - where they had no idea where the shot ended up. Sunday at a major? Come on. And Azinger is just...intolerable for long periods of time.

Austin stepping in to read the putt with Aimpoint cracked me up for some reason.

 

I bet Fleetwood wants that putt back for 62 and +1 for the tourney. Was probably one of the easier putts he had all day.

 

DJ wins by a boatload if he shoots near par yesterday. The course recovered today so people are going to forget how effed up it was yesterday, but there's a good chance that the terrible conditions cost DJ the tourney. Though Koepka put up an amazing 72 yesterday to stay in it, so it's hard to fault him for that.

Yeah hard to fault Koepka, won last year in a wide open blowout type Open - and won this year on a much harder setup (at least for 3 days).

 

DJs problem today seemed like his speed more than anything. He left a couple long putts @ 8 feet short coming down the stretch.

I think the audio dropping out so much was constant f-bombs from fans and players.

Love me some zinger. I like just about everything about the Fox coverage except for Joe Buck. It’s personal between me and him.

 

Found myself getting mad when there was no shot tracer.

So the result of this is usually a weak bleeding fade like flight that is a club or club and a half shorter than normal.

 

I started wearing a glove and got cancer and that solved the problem for me. Good luck!

Happy Father’s Day. Got out with Andy and some buddies at Rattlewood. Course was in great shape, not complaints. One of the craziest rounds for scoring for me. 81, with 4 doubles, and a bogey on 17 & 18. Would could have been. 5 hours later, the course was packed. See everyone Thursday!

Co-sign, I’ve come around a little on Miller because at least he doesn’t try so hard to sound smarter than he is. I think the whole Fox broadcast is terrible to be honest minus the shot tracer. Different strokes and all that I guess.

I'm thinking Koepka kicked DJ down a set of stairs again on Friday night, and recruited Phil to do something crazy on Saturday to help take the attention away from DJ.

Azinger keeps screaming the same stupid saying every 30-45 minutes or so. The "he couldnt hit this green if he dropped it from a helicopter" thing - I think I heard that 4 or 5 times. Couldnt putt it in the ocean - same.

 

The overall coverage to me just seemed worse this year. The mics dropping out was really, really annoying. If you cant handle it then dont have all the extra mics. I'd rather not have them - like every other PGA event - then have them with the audio constantly dropping out.
