Took me almost 3 minutes just to type it, and I wasn't standing on the side of the road, with a light stuck in my eyes, either

I used to practice it in my much younger days just in case. Thankfully I never needed to know it and yes I realize now that they don't actually make you do that. Not much use in practicing now. I'm not a complete teetotaler but I certainly would never be in position to have to recite anything to an officer of the law. If I remember correctly you can pretty much sing the alphabet song backwards too. I could just imagine successfully completing it and looking kind of smug. Then to have the officer say "now do it without singing it" would be kind of a kick in the jewels.
