Artisan Golf Wedges- Mike Taylor and the old "Oven" crew that made Tiger's clubs

sexy. are you going to tilt or silicone them since you paid for a finish?

Also what's the props for?

I had my first chipping practice today with my 46 for bump and runs(awesome) and 60 for pitches(decent) loving them so far. Just don't head to the putting green to find you left your Bluebonnet Putter in the living room.

I'm not going to apply any sealant to protect the finish on the wedges. Just like my irons, these are blue collar tools of the trade IMO. Rough and rugged is how I like them. Save those headcovers for the pretty little diva drivers, fairways, hybrids and putters. As far as the PROTO goes, Mike wanted to modify the sole and bring the leading edge height lower than my Vokey 64, with extra heel relief to allow me to open the face easier. I play on the best greens in Houston which are fast, roll pure and elevated. Short siding yourself is very tragic for your score, unless you can pull off a wicked recovery shot. He asked to add PROTO to it and I think it's cool. Heck he could've asked to paint them pink with purple polka dots and I wouldn't have said no. I'm just fortunate to have Artisan to build my wedges and putter.

Mine came today

Posting not to show off ... but to showcase MT and artisans great work. They not only exceeded my expectations on quality. They delivered them on time. Which I didn’t even care about. Perfect communication, and after only a few balls it was clear that they were as neutral through the turf as I wanted. Which to me means a perfect fit. I ran around 100 balls through my shortgame area with each today. More I hit the better the results. Couldn’t be better.

Nice and simple. I like.

What grind on the 59?

I did my second chipping practice with mine; this time 46 and 55 and very impressed with both, shocked how well the 55 behaved out of the rough on shorter chips, I would normally use my 60 for those shots.

I am going to have to do a new WITB for this year with mine.

It’s an in between Ds/R with a lot of heel relief and the special sauce leading edge treatment for tight Bermuda. Also leading edge is rounded especially around hosel , to give appearance of offset. Plays like a full sole wedge but with a very low leading edge. Which was the plan. Mimicking my old 300 series 59 vokey

@CallawayLefty you just need to pick up the game right handed to play what ya want. It's difficult for quality craftsmen to accommodate those of you who decided to play on the devil's side of the golf ball. Be happy you didn't go to a catholic school in the 1960's. ? At some point, I hope to get down to these guys to get fit and order a set of wedges and a putter. Mike does some awesome work. Artisan has some good traction with PR and the craftsmanship is top-notch.... Ala, that old school Oven life.

I have been chipping with an old Engage in my back yard. The killed leading edge just suits my steep action so well. I think I’m going to try a Vokey with the leading edge grind in an effort to replicate what I could get from Artisan. Given that you basically still can’t buy righty wedges from them, I think it’s safe to say we’re years away from lefty options if ever.

I went out and played 3 rounds this weekend with my wedges which came in on Thursday. Right out of the box these felt wonderful from a weighting perspective. With the newer wedges on the market and the different shafts manufacturers are putting into them, swing weight is all over the board and it drives me crazy. Performance-wise, these things zip, spin and stop on a dime. The time I spent with Jamie and Mike was well worth it in my opinion, and I would highly recommend getting in to see them and getting yourself a set of Artisan wedges and a putter from John.

FYI, they're closing for a week per their Instagram story.

It’s also 21. But it works. The hybrid is also shorter shaft length. I’d have to measure to say for certain as it’s been in the bag a while. But it’s right over 3 iron length.

carries around 15 yards farther but more importantly it gaps behind my 3 wood that’s really a 4 wood. When I had a 2 hybrid it was as long as the wood. A 3 hybrid might work. But I tried the 4 hybrid head first and it worked so well and was so anti left that it Stuck. Hope that helps.

took some picks for my new WITB for the year - https://forums.golfwrx.com/discussion/1820125/scott-donalds-witb-2020-ping-taylormade-mizuno-artisan/p1?new=1

Here are some of the 2 putters and 4 wedges I have in my posescion. My poor dad's putter I have now had for 5 months and he is yet to touch it since he is 5000 miles away. He was supposed to be here right now for 2 weeks of golf!

These are awesome, well chosen on the design and I like the shape of the grinds, too. Love the look of these!

Something close to this is what I'm envisioning getting from them...who knows when. I was scheduled for fitting next week, on hold now until whenever this stuff calms down and I can get down to TX. Oh well, clearly not a big deal in the scheme of things and it will be fun to do the fitting when the time comes.

Yep. It will be worth the wait. 100%. Ive practiced with mine everyday this week except Monday. And I’m still surprised at how well they fit. They slice divots like a potato peeler throws peelings. But don’t try to dig . Very very neutral. Which is perfection to me.

I picked-up my 0519 putter and 51* and 56* wedges on March 23. The box was left for me by John outside the Artisan door. My fitting session was on February 3; I sent Artisan an "I'm interested" email in December 2018. Though I have not been able to hit them, yet, I already wish I had ordered a 46* pitching wedge. The wedges and 0519 are absolutely fantastic, and the fitting process was amazing.

If living close enough to drive to them , I’d consider it a golf cardinal sin not to invest in yourself and be fit by Mike , Jamie and the guys at Artisan. It’s literally an heirloom type experience as far as golf equipment goes.

Guys looking for a little help, with regards to the wedges, the two base finishes are Tour Satin and Blast, can anyone elaborate and share the differences between the two?

is there are regular "raw"?
