I bring my putter to 'putt putt' rounds so I have to assume I'd bring my full bag to Top Golf.

I actuall built a puter just for putt putt

Need to pitch a Manncrafted Mini to my wife. Now have the angle, "Honey, I NEED a custom built Mann Mini for my putt putt rounds". I'm sure she'll understand.

I used my own driver and wooden tee inside their rubber tee and smoked a drive that hit 15 feet under the top of the far net. I couldn't believe I hit it that far with those flight restricted balls. The manager of the Top Golf was at my hitting bay in 10 seconds taking away my tee. I didn't know that was a rule. They must have someone monitoring the computers to see if anyone is close to hitting over the net. Crazy quick response.

I'm going to the one on I-10 in Houston Sunday night for New Years and am torn right now. I'm driving to Houston so taking my clubs with me is not at all a problem but I am going with a group of non golfers. It is certainly more of a night out/party situation but I can't help but think I should also enjoy the golf!

A group of non golfers..

Booze involved...

New Years Eve...

Leave them at home, drink up, have fun. It would suck if your non golfing buddy left a huge drunken sky mark on your driver while you were in the pisser.

technically you aren't allowed to hit anything above a hybrid. they don't want guys trying to clear the net. at least that what I've been told. ours just opened up, and you bet your a** i'll take my own sticks.

Pro tip: if you are looking down range the set on your left will have odd numbered clubs and the set to the right will be the even clubs or it's the other way around and they do have a sand wedge. I always bring my own regardless and bring a driving range rubber tee because they cut theirs down a lot from all the idiots hitting irons off a driver tee.

TopGolf has drivers in the hitting bays. At least in Las Vegas they did.

You can really make do taking 2 or 3 clubs. I take a wedge, mid-iron, and long iron/hybrid. No need for woods. Don’t be that guy awkwardly standing around with his full bag for two hours while waiting for a bay to open up.

The workers take your bag and put it away until your bay is ready. They also carry your bag to the bay. I tried to tip worker but they are not allowed to accept. Bringing your own clubs is not a hassle at Topgolf.

Have not been yet, I suppose knowing what clubs are on hand would determine my choice: what clubs have you guys seen

All Callaway. I think they were XR16

are all top golf locations made by same specs in terms of how long their range is? We just got one in town and I was curious of the yardage to the end of range where the net begins. I tried google, but nothing came up that really told me if they all were same

I consider topgolf to be more like putt putt...I don't take my spider to putt putt so I won't take them to top golf. I did take them the first time, but not again. I just don't consider it "practice". It's just a sit around and socialize, drink, eat, and hit something.

PXG Black Ops 17* hybrid

The 2 in the Houston area I’ve been to had garbage clubs. Nothing even close to Callaway. They looked like pawn shop bargain bin knockoffs.

I always bring my clubs. Of course, my clubs are always in my truck, so it’s no hassle for me to load them up to go. Like mentioned, they lock your clubs up in a monitored room, so no worry about sitting around with a bag while you wait. Plus, being a lefty, the selection of available clubs is even worse.

I was told the SATX location has 125ft net and the range is 220yds deep (the far targets are 218 but there’s a little extra behind it).

Topgolf had real deal Callaway balls when they first opened here and it was awesome. Yardages were very accurate for me and I could crush my 5i to the back target (218yds) in good strikes.

Then they switched to some crappy restricted balls and I can BARELY get my 5W out to the back.

Topgolf sucks now.

How did the games score with their real deal Callaway balls? I don’t see how Top Golf could even possibly work with real balls.

I don’t see the point in taking your own clubs to Top Golf, it’s not that serious. You can reach the fence and every target just fine with their clubs. Sure I could hit it higher up on the net with my own driver...but why? Since the golf balls suck anyway there really isn’t much benefit to bringing your clubs, especially a full bag.

Yeah they are definitely not Callaway xr 16’s. They do not have any brand indication at all which leads me to believe they are made special for top golf. They are big and chunky with tons of offset and do sort of resemble a SGI like a great big Bertha iron though. I would not be surprised if they have an equipment closet with a thousand plus extra clubs in it. The one in Katy was about 225 long but the balls did fly a bit shorter than a normal ball. Maybe as much as two clubs shorter. It is very very fun and I probably would have enjoyed it more with my own clubs as a lot of other people do and it’s not a big deal at all. Over all a great experience. At about 10 til midnight they stopped the golf games and had a fireworks show for the new year. Very cool.

Maybe since the Las Vegas TG is new, they got good clubs. And if MGM resorts is invested in it, money is really no option.

I guess it all depends on the location.
