Check out the lag!

What the fork? Did they bend like that?

I wonder what kind of camera were used. Likely one with a central shutter (with a shutter opening and closing like your eye) as opposed to a traveling shutter (moving like a curtain), which means the picture doesn't lie.

Hey chopper, what are you hitting there?
Callaway Rouge Sub Zero 9°
TM SLDR S 17° 4-wood
Mizuno MP Fli-Hi 21° driving iron

Dynacraft (?) 24° 4-iron
Titleist AP2 710 5-pw
Wilson FG Tour PMP 52, 56, 60°
Rife 460 Tour Blade

After how long does being "out of form" turn into "a bad golfer"?

I play a bit of hickory golf, and yes, they do bend like that. Perhaps the camera used is exaggerating the effect a bit (I know next to nothing about cameras so forgive me while I plead ignorance there), but hickory shafts are incredibly flexible compared to anything made out of steel or graphite.

It's been argued back and forth over and over again in threads trying to compare eras, but IMHO the skills needed to play well with hickory shafts would translate to modern equipment better than modern skills translating back to old equipment. With modern equipment I'm about a 1 handicap, and I can be a bit off in my swing, timing, or contact and still get around the course okay. Even if I played and practiced with hickory all the time I'd be surprised if I ever got better than a 4 or 5. There's just much much less room for error, and errors--even minor ones--are much more severely punished.

With hickory shafts, you either "felt" the swing....or you didn't

Bangers today.....well, most of 'em have hands that aren't as soft as the old time players.

Jack Nicklaus at 14 years of age.

Who knew he would end up being the greatest of all time back then?!

The big three of Japanese golf.

In the early 1990's, the Japan Golf Tour has the 3rd richest tour.

Aoki was a freaking boss....

Too bad he ran into an all time US Open performance by Jack....he played well enough to beat anyone in history that week save jack or tiger

Man oh man jack was an assassin....

Side note: Aoki’s super upright putter so fascinated jack that week (they played all 4 rounds together) that Isao had one sent to jack for his collection..

Two of my all time favorites

The King & The Great one

I still laugh at Gleason every time I see him say “First, you address the ball. Hello Ball.”

I laugh every time

I have always remembered this line from him,

"Golf and women are a lot alike. You know you are not going to end up with anything but grief, but you can't resist the impulse."

Amateur or Open ?

No google, I’ll take a stab...

I’m going Open simply because of the train in the background and the stone building/clubhouse being so ornamentally British [and beautifully colossal]
