Sam Snead watching Bobby Locke putt.

 

Following the end of World War II, Locke successfully resumed his career in South Africa in 1946. He hosted Sam Snead, one of the top American golfers of the day, for a series of exhibition matches in South Africa in January/February 1947, winning 12 out of the 16 matches, two were halved and Snead won two.

 

Snead won 6 times on the PGA Tour in 1946 including the Open Championship.

• 1967 PGA Championship winner
• 1976 Vardon Trophy (scoring average) winner
• 10 PGA Tour wins
• 22 PGA Champions Tour wins
• 16 top 10 finishes in majors
• 2 Ryder Cup teams
• Bucket hat aficionado

Great longevity in the game and had such a great looking swing even in his advanced years (see Twitter video below).

Just popping in to the best thread on wrx to post another favorite of mine - of course, because I took it, lol.  Just seems so "Augusta" and classic, so I'm posting the original and some enhancements, haha, but also invokes some mixed emotions as I think about Tiger trying to walk the next couple of days. Hope he can. Stevie was a good bloke, and of course, as my wife always says, "Adam is such a handsome man."

Seeing Eric Cole, of Bobby Cole and Laura Baugh, reminded me of my LPGA crush way back. She had struggles outside the ropes but was darn good!
