Hockey on the Golf Channel??? (merged)

On a Wednesday night when nothing is going on, I bet the ratings improve.

Personally, I’d rather watch NHL playoff hockey than “the legend of bagger Vance” or any other terrible programming they plan on playing.

 

Even when they show PGA tour events it’s not worth the watch.

 

2min between shots. Way too many putts. Commercial after commercial. At this point, it’s not worth my time to actually watch the pga tour live, unless it’s sunday evening.

 

Watching shot by shot extended highlights on YouTube is a much better way to watch golf...

I’d like to think I’m both a hockey and golf freak. So I’m partial and unbiased....

 

Like I said, what percentage of the golf channel current programming actually shows golf shots ( not commercials, infomercials, instructional bs, boring golf movies...).

 

I agree, I’d love to see more golf on the golf channel. But since they don’t do that, NHL hockey is better than whatever else they would be showing besides PGA tour golf anyway...

live sports is 100 times better than shotmakers, shotmakers is so bad golf channel as a whole deserves to be axed. Its so bad it makes their old show Altered Course seem like game of thrones and breaking bad good in terms of quality. Much rather see NHL on none golf nights than another rerun of Shia Labouf awful golf movie.

Saw that and thought the guide was screwed up. Switched to it and sure enough hockey was on. NBC seems Hell bent for leather to destroy the network. I'd rather see old Wonderful World of Golf mathces all night than hockey on a channel supposedly dedicated to golf, but I guess I'm just the village idiot.

The Golf Channel has lost its way. Even their tabloid website has deteriorated. I think that they want to draw other advertisers to the channel and in order to do that they will start to show non golf sports events. The decline of the Golf Channel has begun.

As odd as it may seem, NBC isn’t out of bounds in broadcasting two NHL playoff games on the Golf Channel tonight.

Because of scheduling conflicts on NBC’s usual NHL-showing networks, CNBC and USA Network, the Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New Jersey Devils game (7:30 p.m. ET) and the Anaheim Ducks at San Jose Sharks game (10:30) will be shown on the Golf Channel. NBC Sports Network is airing the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Philadelphia Flyers (7 p.m) and Nashville Predators at the Colorado Avalanche (10 p.m.)

“Since we began televising every game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2012, we continue to receive great cooperation from CNBC and USA Network, who will air several nights of playoff games this year,” said Jon Miller, president of programming for NBC Sports & NBC Sports Network. “However, because of programming conflicts on Wednesday — for the first time we will extend coverage to Golf Channel.”

 

However, some fans see the move to Golf Channel as slighting the NHL, wondering why NBC didn’t use the NHL Network as the home for the games.

But here’s what we discovered: CNBC and USA Network may be owned by the same conglomerate, but the stations control their own programming.

USA Network is showing the series

Yeah, I thought my DirecTV guide was screwed up for a minute. I don’t know about NBC ruining the channel? But being that I’m not a hockey fan, I wasn’t real thrilled about tonight’s programming. I’d much rather watch more old replays of The Players.
