Puma ... better than most people give it credit for

The evoknit stuff is great. I have 4 of them and they are great for our high humidity here and they don’t seem to stick to your arm causing a “snag” in the swing.

I also love the “powercool or cool touch” material it’s pretty nice

As far as the non golf lines go.

Ignite speed running shoes are super comfortable as well as the Nrgy line (very much like the boost material from adidas ).

The evoknit workout shirts are very comfortable. Even for a fat guy that doesn’t work out.

Puma has improved over the years in their shirt design and fit. They used to be wide and loose with weird sleeve length. The new lines out are much better and lighter weight. I like that they are a tad bit more fitted and the sleeves are normal length. I have few Adidas and Travis Mathew but most of my golf shirts are Puma.

The Puma gear has been a great surprise for me the fit and quality are excellent.

Also have 6-8 polos and four hats. The sportgrip shoes along with my Adidas Powerboost spikeless are my everyday off course shoes as well.

 

I used to be a huge Ecco fan but my last two pairs of those I gave up on after 2 or 3 rounds.

Love the shoes! Super comfortable and no durability issues for me.

 

Mixed feelings about the apparel. Bought four shorts and three shirts. Two of the shorts have had enough stitching come out that they are unwearable unless repaired (crotch area). The shirts seem to be prone getting snags in the fabric.

They are the third largest apparel company in the world. You don’t get that big without doing something right. They are definitely seen as a lower tier clothing company here in the states. My 16 year old tells me that at his high school people think of Puma as a cheap dollar store brand.

 

I personally love the stuff. They have a bunch of styles I would NEVER wear. But the stuff that is my taste I really dig.

Agree...especially regarding golf gear. I only have three things (shirt, pants, shoes), but all are great. Get multiple compliments, which is unusual as my friends normally don't say a thing.

 

Puma does sell a lot of stuff down market, which hurts their brand maybe? I don't know...I haven't bought any of their other stuff, my son (14 year old soccer player) only buys Adidas.

 

Our household has an irrational dislike of Nike...not sure why, but the only Nike gear in our house is the free swag I get from volunteering and charity events. And UA is never mentioned period.

agree w/ the high shcool peeps. first don't like the Ricky F look. 2nd: got some golf shoes an they gave me the worst blisters of my life, had poor odor control, and weren't as water proof as advertised.

Anybody here have the new spikeless Grip Fusions? Now that they have the Classic version I’m thinking about getting.a pair. Most interested in hearing how the traction is since they are spikeless.

I do not.. I got the new Spikeless igite shoes from the Rickie Fowler Short Par 4 Box... I am not a Spikeless shoe guy, but they are very comfortable, they run a little big...I wear a 10.5 in most pumas, but these were a half size almost big... but very comfortable...

 

These have the Fusion Foam, of which I am not familiar...

I switched clothing from Nike to Puma several years ago and IMO Puma has really stepped up the quality and design of shirts, short, pants, etc.

The market best used to be Nike, but once they left the golf business it seemed to me the clothes also got a downgrade.

 

Never bought Puma shoes though, only Ecco and Skechers - which are surprisingly good at the price point - waterproof and very comfortable despite the dumb ads from Matt Kuchar.

I tried Puma gear when they first came and wasn’t a fan so I went back to Nike for years. A couple of years ago I also found that the UA stuff was pretty well done. I started getting Puma stuff in the RF boxes and I really like what they’ve become.

I find them to be on the smaller size. I think they have a more tailored fit (or slim fit maybe?).

Puma makes some really good stuff. A lot of the styles recently I don't care for.

 

I reeeeeeeeeeally miss the Lux polos. Best golf shirts in my closet.
