We definitely need to start handicapping the field.

I'd say the PQ/Siegel team has a good chance, but that would mean I may end up rooting for Siegel and zero chance I will ever do that willingly.

Definitely thinking about taking him this week now that I read this quote lol...

Brooks Koepka: “Everytime I step up to the ball, I basically black out. There are maybe five seconds where I couldn’t tell you what happened.”

OK. I'm back.

Correct. I've never hit it into the 9th fairway either. I'm always over on 11th fairway by the pond.

Possible subs plots from this tournament. . .hitting into people from 9 to 11. Hitting into people and/or having back-ups on multiple tees waiting for greens to clear. If my partner hits a safe one on a couple holes, it's #LookAtTheBaby all day. With the soft turf, I don't really think we'll have too many balls rolling up onto greens, but people should expect a couple to plop down in close proximity.

I'm looking forwards to Bermuda Triangle stories from the 17th hole. There's not another hole on the planet I've ever played where I've seen as many drives where the whole group went. "ok, that was right down the middle" and then you get out there and you can't find a ball ANYWHERE, including scouring the woods between 16 and 17.

Newbies seeing some of those greens. . .Holes 1 and 17 with the giant tier going from FRONT TO BACK. The massive front swale on 18. The total turtle back on 12.

Course knowledge is pretty big at Woodlands. There will be a lot of shots people think were really good, or maybe just missed by a little that will end up in really bad spots. Some of the lines off the tee (such as holes 3 and 17) don't look right, and some of the second shots into par 5s have to be carefully considered.

The defining feature (to me) of the woodlands is that the par 4s are either really long or really short. (I usually don't play whites there).

The 10 par 3's :

Longish : 367, 374, 401, 417, 385 (1, 3, 9, 11, 12)

Short : 283, 304, 316, 316, 312 (4, 7, 16, 17, 18)

From the whites, the par 5's go : 527 (second shot is downhill), 522 (both dog leggy and reachable), 540 (13th is longish), 482 (and down hill).

How quickly does the ball need to get up on this “hole hack” line you speak of at woodlands #9?

Not very quickly, unless you're hitting a big draw.

I think the course generally favors a fade, but there's a couple holes where a draw is helpful, too. If you hit a good draw on a good line on 17 (par 5), you'll have 150 in.

I’ve played the course twice. Once really poorly and once pretty well. Are all the woods lining the tighter holes lost ball re tee or take distance and drop?

Up to the committee, but for the format it might not matter that much.

As for 9, for whatever dumb reason that used to be my best hole on the course. A driver up to the top of the dogleg leaves a nice wedge look. I wouldn't mind having the same fade from the last two range days on Saturday.

That Phil Mickelson instagram video where he hits one 340. . .

Phil makes a sneaky drop early on where he's talking about TPI and how he's getting more power because he's gone from passive legs to more active leg drive. THIS SEEMS TO BE TOTALLY IGNORED BY ALL THE COMMENTERS. And it is interesting. Phil has actually picked up a lot of clubhead speed at a late age.

Instead, everyone watching that video. . .

But, what's really funny is that Colt Knost busts on him for have a 1.48 smash factor and all the "fan boys" come to Phil's defense, just trashing Colt Knost (even though he's kind of right).

Then Phil says, "it's a lot easier to get 1.5 when your swing speed is 100." then says Colt "plays professionally with an amateur game. Truly inspiring."

Then, some moron says, "are you hiding some snacks under your hat?"

OR you fill out into a grown men from a 19 year old. Even Fabb may fill out and not have to shop in the boys department some day

sounds like an excuse of an ex-steroid user.

I've turned a 180 degree on steroid use- especially concerning baseball. #Letemjuice

As a jaded O's fan- I gotta say, baseball just isn't fun right now. We're actually projected to lose more games this year than last, which really doesn't seem mathmatically possible. Baseball was WAY more fun when you had McGwire and Bonds hitting 68 and 70 home runs, and even BRADY ANDERSON dinged out over 50 for the O's. The higher strike zone and defensive shifts have just made hitting so much more difficult. I just think the game needs more offense.

Also, as a group, we have not given Kent01Putt enough grief for ditching us on Pinehurst Brewery night with the excuse of "I was there last night." You can order something else of the menu, ya know. I know we were all looking forward to seeing the man's prowess in action with the 60 year old single lady set.

I'm with you as a fellow O's fan. So depressing. My WAR was higher than Chris Davis' last season.

And +1 on Kent ditching us. There were so many delicious beers to try. One night is not sufficient there.

It's not a lack of HRs--MLB had a record # of HRs in 2017 and last year was close to the # in 2000. Theres just no action. It's all strikeout, walk, or home run now.

And the shift.
