I only read books on vacation.....its bad, but my favorite book of the last few years, for any crime fictions fans, is The Last Good Kiss by James Crumely. Great book.

better late late than never, Toph is a great partner in a team event. Great mix of cheerleader, hype guy and golf whisperer. The kind of partner that makes you really want to succeed to make them proud because they have faith in you and then when you shank one into the trees you feel shame for letting them down.

Who watched the NLU world of golf episode this week?

 

I thought it was much weaker than the first one.  At least we got a dose of Big Randy with him participating this time, but he was really the star of the show as the on course reporter in the first episode.  I also stand by my feeling that it'd be better with all pros.  The caliber of golf this time was pretty poor compared to last time, and being alternate shot made it even worse.  Give me 4 pros playing, Big Randy reporting, and Soly and Tron in the booth.

I actually enjoyed it. I like Big Randy as the on course reporter, but there are many options for watching pros playing golf. I do agree they are not fun formats and matches often enough, but I laughed a bunch watching. 

 

To more pressing topics, who's playing ball golf this weekend? Weather looks like it should cooperate. I'm planning to get out Sunday morning with a friend at EPP. CANNOT WAIT!

I'm hoping to get out for some no adjective needed golf Sunday afternoon, but we'll see.  Definitely nice to be seeing some seasonal 10-day forecasts recently.

This debunks my theory that Hoop referred to you as "a friend" in his post about playing EPP.  It's the logical next step in de-emphasizing the importance of the labels he puts on people in his life.

Wife and I are in OCNJ. We are not going to see each other a whole bunch in the next several weekends, so we wanted to get some "us time" in. 

No ball golf or golf. TV is closed today anyway, so that feels like a win for City. Yoga tomorrow. Might watch UMD and Duke games if I'm in the house when they're on.  I'll watch Valspar. Gonna finish the Unlounging book today. 2More, only on the surface is it like Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The guy actually spends most of the book wondering what "time" is. It's weird. I saw it on an "indie" list. It was a buck at Amazon and I had a digital credit, so it was free.

My boy has a lesson tomorrow afternoon, and then we'll probably go play 9 afterwards.  And we'll probably play 9 on Sunday too.  Haven't really planned anything.  We just kind of wing it.

Interesting location for the 2nd Swing store opening in Columbia. It is going into what used to be the Habitat for Humanity ReStore which was basically one big empty warehouse. I am excited to check it out, it is a big space.

I like that location much better than the GG in Columbia.  That GG should be worried.  It's already nearly useless, being not great, and right down the street from DSG.  The 2nd Swing could basically bury that GG location.

I 100% agree, especially since they tailor in new AND used clubs. This is a local global golf (which it seems like the majority of us use) for trade ins and they have a 30 day playability guarantee. The parking lot at GG is also miserable to get in and out of. 2nd Swing you will be able to park right in front of the door with no other stores or traffic to contend with.

Getting in and out of GG is a complete nightmare. Every time you go, it's a gamble whether you'll get swiped by some crazy person going in or out of costco, and the associated costco gas station.

What's the deal with people and costco gas? People line up and wait like maniacs to save what... maybe a couple bucks, max? It's insanity. People lose all ability to be rational when it comes to Costco/Sams/BJs.

People are weird about cheap gas, CostCo or not. My in-laws will drive 10-15 minutes away to get gas 10 cents cheaper. So over a 20 gallon SUV tank, that's $2. You probably wasted most of that driving further away, and took an extra 20-30 minutes to get it done.

Yeah, my mom was like that about gas too. She'd drive across town to save 5 cents a gallon. But then we explained the math to her how it wasn't worth it, and now she's not so nuts. I was young in the 70's, but I remember the gas shortages of the oil crisis. It gets ingrained in you, this knee-jerk response of shopping for the cheapest gas.

HBD playing "Love Hate Thing" by Wale. That used to be the last thing I'd listen to when I had a tournament. It's a perfect groove to get my rhythm down before starting to swing. Kept me from getting too amped. nice tempo. Actually talked about in one of these threads years ago.

 

I also love Izzo for the same reason. "for sheezy my neezy keep my arms so breezy" is a great swing thought.
