For their next video series, Tron needs to find a degenerate gambler who's also a 5.6 and likes to pop off with unreasonably cocky comments like "If he's really a 5.6 I'd play him right now for $1,000 a side..."

Before, and after.  The "before" video is actually taken once we had already added the tilt at setup.  So this is just me trying not to move off the ball.  You can see how much less my entire upper body is moving through the swing.

That's a pretty good swing. Looks like nice speed through the ball . I once knew something close to that...

Wait, when can we stop talking about serious stuff like website technology and forum apps and talk about the fact I was fit into a 12* driver at Club Champion on Monday...

I think Tex is trying to fit me into senior flex graphite shafts.   :'(

Dave Chen at Tex's Trackman fitting:

Dave Chen:  "How's my swing speed looking there Tex!"

Tex:  "Ah...Great! Just great!  I had a demo day at Atria Senior Living just a couple days ago and you're right there with some of those guys!  Not the highest I saw out of them, but right there!"

Leisure World.  They have a golf course.  I've played there.  The course is short but the layout keeps it interesting.  Greens a bit slow, but the course was in great shape.  Didnt seem to get must use.

OK, credit to the Marshals for entering the 21st century re: social media rendering.
I'm still not sure how to do everything. The old way to link to something from meme generator "bbcode (forums)" didn't work.

So if I just share this picture of HBD from twitter, does it render?

Finished reading The Forever War last night.  Fun read, and super interesting premise, but I thought a good portion of the book was kinda boring.  Escape from Camp 14 has been sitting on my shelf for at least a year or two now, so it should probably be next on my list.  Anyone read it before?  Was it good?

My competitive nature is taking over on the points in my username vs the other here.  I have 25 points.  However @FAbb   has 150 points!  Is Fabb worth six times as many @OCGolfRick's???  If you had the choice of going on a Pinehurst golf vacation, would you choose 6 Fabbs over 1 OCGolfRick?  OF COURSE NOT.  How does this work as I need to improve my points.   Do I need to be even kindler and gentler than I already am, or do I need to take a tougher stance on divisive issues in the thread, like soft vs cord grips and Trackman accuracy numbers? Even @Gmen1204 has 77!  At the moment, though I have only researched half the Hive members, @TheCityGame leads with 159 points.

This injustice cannot stand.

I've jumped to 87 points on @Ocgolfrick just by bringing this up.  Clearly this is a benevolent system that knows how to correct injustice.  Mortal Frenemy @SullGolf has 137 points now though, and I'm trying to think what good @SullGolf has been to the thread and I'm coming up empty.  This point system also has a sense of humor.

Have you read "Old man's War?"

"Mote in God's Eye" is one of those epic "travelling across space" sagas, too.

I can't remember if you were in on the discussion in Pinehurst (not a commentary on your memorability, but rather on my state of mind). I know that @"C. Freeman"  and @Ocgolfrick were, but the "Broken Earth Trilogy" is so good. Maybe you even mentioned that in this thread a long time ago.

I'm currently reading a book called "The Unlounging" and it's about a dude who just sits on the couch so much his girlfriend breaks up with him, so it's about him getting his act together. He describes smelling one of his own farts for a whole paragraph.

I'm also reading "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson about hiking the Appalachian Trail. I'd heard a lot about that book, but it always sounded kinda lame. I was wrong. The dude is funny. Before he goes on his walk he does a deep dive into all the ways people have been killed by bears and other things.

I read Old Man's War last year and thought it was pretty good.  Probably enjoyed it more than The Forever War.  And I don't recall a conversation about the Broken Earth trilogy, but I've listened to the first book on Audible and really liked it.  I have the second book in my library right now, so maybe I'll start it after I finish Elantris.  Although my library for Audible keeps growing, since I'm buying books faster than I can listen to them.  I have a ton of books from last year I still need to get through: The Black Prism by Brent Weeks, SPQR by Mary Beard, Shogun by James Clavell, Circe by Madeline Miller, and Homeland by R. A. Salvatore.  And then short story collections too (Sherlock Holmes and the Necronomicon by Lovecraft).  And then books I've already bought this year.

I'll look up Mote in God's Eye and A Walk in the Woods though, those both sound interesting.

My favorite books from last year were probably The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson, Red Sister by Mark Lawrence (not because it was particularly amazing, but it's about a group of nuns who are actually super assassins and that premise is just funny), The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, and maybe Genghis Khan by Jack Weatherford, which was interesting because I'd never really learned about the Mongol empire in school or otherwise.

Hate that course. 18 is a farse with that 85 degree dogleg right. Hit a decent drive and you are into the woods on the other side of the fairway. Need to play a slice to play that hole.  And then the old men are just mean and bitter. Ogre knows what I mean...
