Hey, let me know when you tired of those Mizunos. I think my son might like them.

Eh, I know you club hoes.

I've been playing the same irons, Ping G30s, since I've been hanging with y'all, about 5 years. How many sets of irons has the average WRXer gone through in the same time span?

pivot: dunno how many of you besides @TheCityGame saw 'hereditary.' it's on prime. it's weird, in a wonderful way. an A24 movie (ex machina, green room, swiss army man, killing of a sacred deer, under the skin, moonlight +many more). same director as 'hereditary.' anyway, i can't wait to see it.

i like 98% enjoyed myself yesterday. frustration came out for a bit at the start of the back nine. i didn't know it was possible for me to play that poorly. if i played today there's basically no chance i'd be that bad.

very interesting on those rain totals. i was way wrong on that. i thought anything over an 1" was pretty rare. The course was stunningly unwet yesterday.

a big part of my methodology at the match play has been to identify groups of four where multiple players are struggling with their game. that's definitely harder than normal this year because both sawgrass and valspar are volatile AND very very different from austin country club. i don't even remember who i picked last year but they were in bubba's group. I heard guys talking him up that week and thought it was the dumbest thing ever. welp. guess they were right! i like picking this event. lots of strategy.

You mean they weren't plugging 6 inches deep? Sounds pretty dry.

I've got a guy.

I was following the golf scores on my phone driving home yesterday and I told wife, "I want this guy to win. I'm the only guy who picked him this week."

And she goes, "if other people pick him, do you split the points?"

And I was like, "no. that's d--- hmmmmmm......"

That's actually kind of a cool idea. You all want DJ for Augusta? If he wins, you split the dollars. LOL. I mean, it's kind of like all the guys split Patrick Reed's points this week, except with positive numbers.

It is? So you have the likelihood of situations where the guy who picked the third place finisher is rewarded more than the guy than the guy who picked the winner? Sure, it adds a bit of complexity, but does it actually reward the guy who picks the player who performs best on that week? Isn't that the whole point??

I guess that's the whole point of THIS pool. The thing about this pool is that there's no reward for a clever pick, finding a diamond in the rough. . .like Fabb picking Im this week. Good pick, but still only as good as if you took someone more obvious like Bubba, or Oostie. There's no incentive whatsover when there's 30 tournaments to ever take a shot on a guy, or go scouring for the up and comer. It's just like point and pray.

So, maybe I'm just describing a different kind of pool. I used to be a bowling pool where you took 4 guys each week and used "dollar values" on each one, so you had to dig deeper.

Or maybe if you did what I was describing, you would have to take away the "one and done" aspect of it. So, you can pick a great player more than once, but you need to value it against the likelihood that other people pick him.

Yeah, firing Sungjae and getting a T4 seems clever on the surface.

... except City fired the defending champ, who was a consensus top contender, and picked up a cool million more dollars than I did this week.

It was a weird week for picks. So many people on Sergio, and Reed, and then basically everybody else was the only person who had their guy.

Was in NYC this weekend with the wife hanging out with friends. Really fun trip.

PSA: If you are travelling anywhere, especially to another city, make sure you check with xhoop first. The man (and his roommate) are excellent at recommending restaurants. We followed their advice this weekend and ended up having the best cheeseburger either of us have ever had (at a pizza place).

Played PB Dye yesterday at noon and was surprised of the price of $45. I would have thought more. Tested the M5 tour out as I'm looking for a new driver head just for kicks. I have the M3 tour currently. Put the M5 tour head on my current shaft and wow does it look small. I think it's the matte finish that makes it look smaller. After testing the M5 tour on a few holes, it spins more than my M3 tour which shouldn't happen. Needless to say, no bueno for that head. Moving on to maybe the Mizuno ST190G head to try out.
