I will personally tutor your children for less than $16,000 on how to work the SAT. I cannot teach your children soccer. There are some logic games you can play with the SAT for questions you have no idea how to answer to break them down to 50/50 chances, and often even better odds if you have a better grasp of math/vocab than i did.

City... preach

We have been playing defense for the last 3 months. Country club life the green is better. However, he skipped water one day and the greens had some bounce and so did the fairways.

Prefer that but as you mention... if it’s not green it’s bad. That’s why so many courses are bent

National Golf Club in Murrrland is the second schittiest course I've ever played. Thankfully it was a free round when I played there. Penderbrook in VA will always be the top S-hole on my list.

I'd definitely choose Worthington or Blue Mash to play forever out of the courses I've played in MD. Usually they are in really good shape with lightning quick greens. I can also spray and pray like HBD.

I mean, I'm not in a position where it impacts me one way or the other, but I imagine buying a few prep books and possibly doing a prep class at a local college would be sufficient. And that can't cost more than $1,500 from the 30 seconds of google searching I just did.

Firm, fast, and brown describes every great course in Scotland. What a maroon.

When courses are firm and fast, you can play a different variety of shots. It's more golfy. When it's wet you basically have to fly everything to your number.

It's better to be born rich than smart.

If you take care of the SAT, I could probably afford Lakewood which is a mile away from my house.

As you just got married check with your wife first though..

4k per kid doesn't seem as crazy I guess. Actual tuition isn't that different for any private university, whether that's MIT or Joe Blow's College of Philosophy, but the outcomes are much different (not necessarily for pure education, but for connections and resumes).

The key here is to not have 4 kids. I've got that partly covered, but a few other's here aren't as smart as me.

The old look was so long ago that I don't even remember what it was.

$4k for SAT prep seems like a lot. When I was a kid, I just bought a book and took practice tests. My co-worker's son did one (Kaplan, maybe?) and it didn't seem much more than that. So, yeah, I'm dubious, but we'll probably do that for our kids. That's what folks do these days, I guess.

What is the core problem that drives expansive SAT prep school or elite sports program to get in good college scholarship?

Socio structure that only values life with good degree and school network?

People don't promote any other industry other than STEM?

I think because American Dream is dying out

American Dream used to give people many opportunities, options and chances.

Now, social structures leaning towards extreme capitalism that you want to minimize risk and maximize profit in your life.

you put into crazy amount money in those program to maximize the chance of opportunity. that opportunity might not be available again if you fail first time.

It is capitalism: Rich gets richer. Money makes money.

My kids told my wife this morning that they want to buy a Halloween costume for me, but keep it a secret. I'll happily go around the neighborhood in a poop emoji costume or whatever ridiculous thing they end up picking. They're gone have to work quite a bit harder to convince me to drop $4k on playing soccer for a season. I'm very sour on where youth sports have gone in general.
