i'd like to say the same for me but i feel like it's mostly more subconscious than you describe. I have the following manufacturers in my bag: callaway driver + three wood, taylormade 5 wood, ping irons, vokey wedges, odyssey putter. That lines up very closely with brands that advertise, pay pros, etc. I didn't choose any of them because I want to be like a certain pro. Advertising just makes us have a preexisting bias when we go to test clubs. i literally sent you a 70% serious text about buying a scottie cameron putter. Why, other than advertising, would have a desire for a scottie cameron putter? i've always thought it would be cool to have a scottie! because it's a SCOTTIE CAMERON. i'd never pay for one. but when i made EVERYTHING at second swing for ten minutes with one I gave it a real thought to buy it. That's the subconscious effect of advertising.

Also. You drive a BMW! A hyundai wouldn't be a more reasonable choice? That HAS to be in some way and to some extent the effect of the BMW brand and it's perception.

also i really legit want a ping hat because VIKTOR rocks one. true story. but the logo is just to obnoxiously big so i won't.

Also, I'm not trying to derail into a general discussion about advertising. I don't understand it, and clearly it works, or companies wouldn't spend so much money doing it.

Do you think companies jumping on to advertise/sponsor NLU are seeing returns on that investment? Do you think they're taking a hit on it now, in hopes it'll pay off down the road if they grow?

You also have to wonder how much of what they're doing is comped. Clearly they've got BMW providing vehicles, which is not to be understated. I'd venture a guess most of their golf on these trips is comped, or paid by sponsors.

I've been holed up the last 3+ days with the regular flu. No #3 with this variant luckily, just super fatigued. It's been lost in the coronavirus talk, but this year's flu has been pretty bad apparently. Hope you all got your flu shot. I had mine and it didn't stop it, but I was told my fever is much lower than people who didn't get it.

That's basically question i was asking. My answer with absolutely no basis is that yes they're seeing a return on that investment. Even if it's only through the continued spread of general brand perception and at a much more targeted audience than Xander rocking the callaway hat.

I had a similar conversation with a friend while playing golf last weekend with regards to Crossfield and Srixon. From my perspective, and it is limited only that, but they are getting a ton more out of paying Crossfield than someone like JB Holmes. I watch a ton of PGA tour golf, have seen JB Holmes in contention multiple times this year alone, but him having Srixon on his hat and bag is pretty much worthless to me. Same for Keagan, Graeme, etc.

The people who REALLY know how well advertising works are internet companies and there's a reason that google and facebook are worth about a trillion dollars.

Honest to god I have no idea how YouTube advertising works. And I mean that in the sense of, I have no idea why a company would pay money to advertise on there. Most people skip through them and they are never advertising things that you would suddenly say "Woah, I am watching this video about Pinehurst and I forgot that I need State Farm insurance."

The destinations themselves...I sort of get that. They put up free golf and free rooms, which are next to no cost to them and they get a full YT video, very well produced, drone shots, the whole nine. If I was another location and had seen their Tourist Sauce work, I'd be lining up to have those guys in for free.

I dont know how much NLU makes off YT, its probably not a lot but might be more than you think. I remember watching a car blogger talk one time about how they make revenue off YT. It has to do not only with the views but from where the views are from.

The range at Pine Needles looks directly in to the rising sun. I remember not being able to see jack squat when warming up. That's probably the only reason I didn't play well there.
