I mean tiger was dominating Rory until the weather did a complete 180. Rory then completely choked it away by making a horrendous decision to go flag hunting at the wrong time.

 

Idk where this ‘the luckiest man won’ crap is coming from. I watched every shot of that match today. While Tiger had to hold on at the end, he wasn’t outplayed. Rory did what Rory does.... miss a bunch of easy putts and blow a wedge into a par 5.

That's about his speed this year from what I've seen. He's lost about 8 mph while Phil has gained that amount.

I don't think Tiger will be too upset if he falls in the quarterfinals. The prospect of playing 36 holes on back to back days two weeks before The Masters is a bit much with that back.

“Luckiest man won” comes from ‘The Facts’ of what happened.

 

Yes front 9 the momentum was with Tiger, but back 9 Rory had all the momentum after winning holes 12 & 13 cutting TW’s 3 shot lead to just 1 shot. Tiger on the tee of Hole 15 and feeling the pressure hits his drive OB… but he was saved by the Gallery. This is where everything changes with that crazy moment of sheer luck.

 

Fact 1:

Hole 15, Tiger’s hits a terrible drive heading OB and is stopped by the gallery and kept in play saving loss of hole which would have resulted in it being AS with momentum heavily with Rory.

 

Fact 2:

Hole 16, Rory only has 170 yd wedge for likely eagle or birdie and win of the hole with Tiger laying up far back. Rory hits a simple short iron and at end of ball flight is knocked down 25 yards by an unexpected gust of wind resulting in a terrible lie that leads to the loss of hole.

 

Both these huge moments of luck happened, and did so at pivotal stages in the last 3 holes which greatly impacted the momentum, results and outcome.

This kid is playing frustratingly well. Aside from a water ball on #11, he's been Mr. 180 ball speed fairways and greens. And every putt looks like it's going in.
