How is anyone being ranked the 17th best in the entire world from 150-175 yard range “not elite”. Talk about denial.

And yes, all it takes is 1 piece of good/bad luck either way at key pivotal moments on the last few holes of an 18 hole match, you bet ya house matches are made on such key moments of luck…

Tiger’s Lucky Moment 1:

Tiger’s result altering moment of luck happened on hole 15 after feeling the pressure of Rory having closed a 3 shot advantage to just 1 shot over the previous 3 holes… Tiger on the tee under pressure hits a very poor drive that’s heading OB only for the gallery to save his ball and instant loss of that hole. The result of this huge piece of luck would have been Rory & Tiger suddenly being All Tied and with massive momentum firmly on Rory’s side. And Rory’s a huge momentum player as we know.

Rory’s UnLucky Moment 1:

The flip side of this luck was Rory’s result altering moment on hole 16 (par 5). Tiger still feeling the pressure from Rory, Tiger on the tee hits another poor drive into the fairway bunker causing a poor lie against the bunker face. This forces Tiger to lay up way back with Par the likely score. Rory with all the momentum then hits a monster 400 yard drive leaving only 170 yard flip wedge/iron. This is likely eagle or worst birdie op range for Rory, especially as he’s the 17th best in the world (very “elite”) from this distance. The evidence shows (visual, audio and commentary), that Rory hits his short iron/wedge well only for the final stage of the ball flight to suddenly fall from the sky a huge 25 yards short into the grass verge of the bunker leaving a terrible lie. Rory has a hit & hope chip that heads towards the gallery and OB area only for no such luck like Tiger earlier when he benefitted from the gallery when they stopped his ball going OB. Rory had no such Tiger-luck. Rory makes 6 or 7 after only having an easy iron for likely eagle or highly likely birdie and win of the hole. This would have been AS with Rory (the momentum player he is) having all the momentum going into the last 2 holes.

What I've just outlined is factual and happened, and through these key moments of ZERO-skill and pure luck, they influenced results and the momentum of the match as they happened so close to the finish line. It's hard not to say the luckiest player won in this match. That's my point.

> > And to selectively paint a few poor irons “this year” as the cause in this instance (when he’s actually ranked #17 in the world from this shot distance), and also having a far better year in his approach play in general, plus all the evidence outlined previously about what actually happened… lacks credibility in your statement in this particular instance.

> >

> > Golf is all about momentum in these MP situations and Rory had the momentum back nine and closing fast. With the enormous piece of luck Tiger benefitted from on hole 15 with is drive going OB until the gallery saved him from going All Square. These pieces of incredible luck slanted for one person and not the other determine matches. Then with Rory’s counter-luck after hitting a monster drive leaving a flip wedge only for the wind to unexpectedly knock his ball down dramatically into a terrible lie, and then for his chip to not be saved from going OB by the gallery like Tiger benefitted from just 2 holes prior. It’s hard for any fair-minded person to say these massive moments of pure luck, devoid of any skill, determined the momentum and the result.

But my recent posts have been more about the crazy denial by many here to some basic moments caught on camera showcasing incredible moments of luck and fortitude for Tiger/Rory at key moments in the match. ie. The gallery stopping Tiger’s poor drive going OB, and poor luck of Rory’s ball getting knocked down by a gust of wind resulting in a terrible lie and then having no luck of the gallery stopping his ball from going OB.

Rory did that but after the ball left the club the wind / mother nature intervened drastically knocking down his shot a huge 74ft short of the pin into a dreadful lie. That is simply called getting “bad-luck”. Similar to Tiger’s last iron on 18 that also got knocked down by the wind almost sending it OB, again. On the flip side, and the fact you many don’t want to acknowledge is the fact Tiger on a few hole earlier also got a huge piece of “luck” (that would have changed the whole dynamic of the match) when the gallery saved Tiger’s drive from certain OB and instant loss of hole. That was extremely “good luck”. To deny these instances outline either means you didn’t actually watch what transpired, or you have selective memory.

You take Tiger's drive 2 holes back that was heading OB, the gallery saves Tiger from the instant loss of that hole which would have them tied. Then Rory spanks a monster drive, flipping a wedge into a Par 5 but the wind suddenly knocks down his ball into a horrendous lie, his chip goes OB due to the poor lie and with no gallery to save his ball either like Tiger, and Rory loses that hole.

Rory really lost when he missed the short putt at 10.
