I was impressed by Langer and Ricky and the others who stayed to congratulate Tiger. Ricky and Tony Finau were very genuine in their praise. A classy place and some classy people.

Virtuoso performance from El Tigre regarding iron play. I’d have to go back and watch but maybe his iron shot on 5 and his iron shot on 9 were the only missed shots? I guess he did kind of shank that shot on 18 today, lol.

 

My point is that this week his ability to hit quality iron shots was damn impressive.

Post of the thread basic. Excellent and true. Tiger 1.0 is a thing that wild cause them to think their games cheap and reassess whether or not they should be playing . We see some of these new guys hit driving irons 245-265 today off tees and into par 5s. There are a couple YouTube clips of him sending a butter knife blade 2 iron with 20 degrees loft 270 plus off the deck to 10-15 ft on par 5s. The sound is unreal. His body didn’t break because of bad genes. He hit it that hard that often.

The Scotty Newport 2 putter now has 14 of his 15 majors. But I guess TaylorMade can take solace in the fact he really did not putt that great this week. His ballstriking won the tournament for him. So I guess the Taylor folks can brag about their driver and irons helping him get the job done.

So the Earl prophecy. "My son will win 14 majors." For the last decade it seemed Tiger was cursed to fulfill his father's prediction and stay at 14 majors. That curse is now broken. Wonder if it means anything moving forward for him. Guess we will see. Beating a stacked leaderboard like he did today cannot hurt his confidence when he is in contention for future majors.

My thoughts exactly on the Earl prophecy. Can you imagine the release of 10 years of being shut out? And all the personal and injury stuff on top of it.
