I don't think he's lying to himself. I think he actually believes it. And I don't think he is very intelligent - but it doesn't take great intelligence to play great golf. I give you - John Daly, JB Holmes, maybe Hubert Green.

lol. Yea. He’s not exactly rain man.

There’s different kinds of smart. JD isn’t dumb.he just doesn’t care. But I get the point.

McDowell had a **** of a week at Pebble noine years ago; not a long hitter but was deadly accurate with the irons. DJ, one of the longest, was in prime position to win but this is not a bomb and gouge course.

I'm mixed on this. It has the possibility to work at Pebble given the course length.

But it was 6 years ago that he uses that club successfully. I wonder if he's giving up too much distance to other top players with it today vs then?

The 2 wood tee shot (X2 Hot 2 deep, not 3 deep) on the 16th in the final round at Valhalla cost him a shot at the 2014 PGA. Rory bombed his driver and hit 8 iron to that green.

Was asked about the chip on his shoulder and he admits to it. Then asks if he thinks he’s intimidating... he says no. He doesn’t think so.

Probably hard for the ego when the role reverses. DJ texted BK support before final round of 2017 US Open. Now, DJ should be texting asking for help?

Would be great if DJ used Brooks play to put together a few major wins in the next couple years. DJ has good showings this year but his career will only get the right recognition if he gets a couple (?) more majors.

DJ is basically where DL3 ended. Assuming DJ gets more regular wins the ratio would be even worse without more majors. Spieth and Rory will probably hit 20 wins - look at their majors...

Eh. He’ll learn a little bit this week. Either he learns he’s the next tiger. Or he learns what he doesn’t have. He can’t pummel this course.

Fleetwood! 25-1 odds. Has always done well at this major. His lack of elite length and accurate play should be good for Pebble again. Tommyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I'm well aware of that. The poster I replied to thought DJ had won the RBC Canadian Open the week before the US Open in 2018. Guess he got Memphis in early June and Toronto in late July confused.

I still think it's better that Brooks is trying to get what he wants instead of just giving us a cookie cutter persona. He's really a regular ultra talented athlete who's pretty successful and is learning to deal with his fame (or lack of it). He probably thinks he should be getting tons of endorsemnt deals. He's like Patrick Reed, but like 10x better in every way.

I thought Steve W. didn't want to be out and about full time anymore, maybe Majors and a few other big tournaments with Day.

Will be interesting to see if he can stay focused on it. And stay healthy.

He had an interview a while back that seemed to say what it took to get to the top basically costs too much in terms of other parts of life. The most recent story alludes to the sacrifices that are necessary as well.

Will be interesting to see if he ever moves off the "one major" camp.

Interesting that Phil declined to talk with the media. I get that all things equal he'd rather avoid answering dumb questions like "what would it be like to win the US Open on Father's day and your birthday" or "you've won here 5 times, can you talk about your love of the course?"

Only other time I remember him blowing off the media was 2005 Doral and the loss to Tiger in the final pairing.
