Canadian Open was not played the week before the US Open last year. St Jude event was.

The 6th green, high up in the grandstand is a good one. You see the approaches on your hole, the tee shots on the short Par 3 7th, the tee shots on #8, and off in the distance, the 2nd shots across the ocean on 8 as well.

The last man to win the week before a major, then win the major was Rory in 2014 with the WGC-Firestone and PGA.

Four out of the five US Open winners at Pebble Beach won the Crosby Pro-Am previously. The only outlier is Graeme McDowell. Tiger Woods won both in 2000 and Jack won both in 1972. (and then won the Crosby again in 1973)

Having seen a multitude of Crosbys and previous US opens from there, but never been in that part of the world - what is the grandeur of the holes down the stretch? The ones you really watch on TV? Ok 18 is cool, but that as well as the others look pretty much the same, seems mainly to have been built to give the golf player nice views of the ocean. What is in your opinion the grandeur of the designs of the separate holes of the final bunch of holes? Talking about AN or the Old course people talk a lot about the individual holes, but not when talking about PB. And if they do, its mostly about the 7th or 8th.

Tiger probably has a better chance than Phil. Phil will be fighting that rough all day Thursday and Friday and I think he'll struggle.

Speaking of the 2019 US Open - this week is about Tiger Woods and not Bruce Koepka or frickin’ Phil Mickelson.

 

I think it’s pretty darn amazing we will be watching Tiger tee it up again in the US OPEN at Pebble Beach, as the Masters Champion.

 

Last night David Duval called the 2000 US OPEN win, "the greatest golf tournament performance ever played by Tiger”. Think about it, two years ago Tiger is away from the public eye, hidden behind a veil of medication doing strange things such as chasing himself around the house in the nude and criticizing the cat for not voting. Now, here we are in 2019 and we just might see more Tiger magic. In my opinion, the 2019 PGA at Bethpage was just too much for the new/old Tiger, but Pebble is a course he knows and loves to play. It's a familiar golf course of "doable yardage" that some of us have played, and I think we are in for a good show.

Hopefully Tiger can make a charge on Friday because we all know how Thursday will go. (1st tee shot pushed right, no 2nd shot so chips out and ends the 1st hole with a D bogey. Finishes round +2, 7 shots off the lead)
