Yeah it's hard to tell with Cantlay but I also remember Kevin Na (?) or whoever it was in Erin Hills that made the USGA run out with a bunch of weed whackers

Same here. I think part of the purpose behind was how certain areas around greens needed to be avoided at all costs. There are clearly plenty of areas where the rough is not that deep. Short-right on ten is also an infamous spot where you don't want to miss the green, and that's nothing new for this US Open. It spans back decades.

I’m actually surprised they don’t hold it for him.

First off when I talk about the Sky Shot Centre I'm talking about an outdoor studio that Sky have set up adjacent to the range at Pebble (they do it at most larger tournaments). They bring players in off the range , interview them and get them to demonstrate how they will play shots relevant to the particular event. It is generally very entertaining.

Nick Doughty has just interviewed Graeme McDowell, interesting, followed by Kevin Na. Na came across as a really interesting and fun person. They had him putting and discussed his walk to hole after hitting his putt, showing the recent escapade with Tiger and having a laugh about it all.

I was pleasantly surprised by him.

yep, definitely no complaints, he even replied to someone saying pebble is gonna show it's teeth and he can't wait. it's been almost 10 years since pebble hosted an open and most people have grown accustomed to seeing it at the pro am when guys shot -15 to -20 with ease. it's gonna be a big change watching it with the open setup.

Think the players aren't complaining about the rough this year. Most of the complaints have been about losing the greens. Cantlay wasn't showing us the rough as a bad USGA move, he was showing you what they are facing. It's a good reminder to those who think they got game to show that we will never play a setup like this on our home golf courses. In fact most of the golfers who have played PB have not played that course in that condition.

As far a Tiger's Air Time, He brings in the ratings whether we like it or not.

The only issue I've seen so far is the fact that NBC decided to make a big deal about a gay golfer. How does that figure in with golf? Who cares? A person's identity as a golfer knows no sexual preference. Can he play is the question. Even he said it shouldn't make a difference. Then again it sales commercials with the PC crowd.

I was there Monday and Tuesday. I'm pretty sure they have been irrigating. Probably because of the warm weather on those days.

I saw Phil repair a couple small ball marks as a result of some pretty short pitch shots.

Not a lot of run out on tee shots. Except on 9 and 10. Tee shots right on those holes is not a good thing.

So as of Tuesday afternoon, I would call the course conditions "soft".

The rough looked thick and the fairways are very narrow (his caddie mentioned that the normal fairways have been essentially cut in half for the Open). Looks like a tough test this week.

Davis and crew are trying to replicate 2010 conditions except, player's want graduated rough for this event.

He doesn’t care but he’s a hawk about anything mentioned or not about him on Foxsports, social media, etc.

Either you care or you don’t. He obviously does

“All Brooks Koepka needs is hate

Want to hear the perfect Koepka story? When ESPN The Magazine put together a list of the 20 most dominant athletes of 2018, and didn't include Koepka on it despite the fact that he won two majors (the list leaned heavily on math, not emotion), he was so annoyed -- particularly that we put a horse on there instead of him (Justify did, after all, win the Triple Crown) -- he saved it as the lock screen on his phone, wanting to wake up every day and look at it so he could be pissed off again.”

That’s great.

he absolutely cares what people think ... if you truly don't care, you don't spend time saying "i don't care" ...

Hasn't only the winner been under par the last two times? Not saying it's Winged Foot but rough and small, rock hard greens are what makes life tough for these guys.

I don't know but interested to see if the course can still hold up. Some thought Merion was going to be ripped apart btnit wasn't.

Thing is, back in say 2005 if he was in the lead or thereabout after saturday I didnt watch sunday. He made it boring. If i looked, i hoped that he would choke. You can say i was a hater.

Now its the other way around. I normally tape and watch with a lag to avoid leaderboards, putt line inspections and boring players. And i find myself searching for a red shirt. Nowadays his game is really attractive to watch, and his charisma being tiger is mixed with a more human proneness for errors. I can live with seeing all the tiger shots. Even if Henrik is on the run, Tiger is the one i look for.

Dark horses? GMac, Piercy, Grillo.
