What does the T-D stand for? I used to play a set of those in the late Eighties, and I always wondered about that. I would have guessed it referred to the hollow heads in the long irons, but I can't see any likely candidates.

TaylorMade 1988 T-D= Tour Developed..,,,, Got to love those hollow headed long irons, paved the way for the hybrids we see now.

I'll try to dig up my 1 iron, MS 3 or 5.... Jim Thorpe ( had a temper at times) hooked one OB teeing off with his 1 iron at The Atlanta Classic. He broke it in half over his knee and threw it into the woods. I retrieved it!

No, it was a jdm market model from the early to mid 90s. It is a classic Mac blade iteration but for the jdm market offset in the short irons that seems common during that time period. The European version as the tp19 was a little better for the short irons but the ms203 is a classic blade shape sans the offset. If Mizuno would release the same blade model with no offset it the short irons it would be a great classic looking blade. The Super-11 is very similar (and very different from the euro market ms-11) but the blade top line is thinner and the blade has more mass in the muscle part. iI found it to be a little higher launching model than the 19/203. The TP-19 is almost perfect except for the bright chrome finish, and that's just my preference for aesthetics. The ms203 satin is the best imho. There were a few mp craft models similar to the super-11 in Japan as well that are cool. Google the Mizuno craft model 911 and craft model 893 and you'll see what I mean. This my old ms203 6 iron. You gotta love an iron to do this to it.

If you can find someone with the proper equpment to knock the offset out of the MS203 short irons, you will not find a better quality, more solid set of blades, ever. Ever. if I could send my six iron to Artisan and tell them, make me a set of these with no offset in the short irons, they would be the best irons ever made, hands down, turn the light off Gracie. Done. The MP-29 was the only model I ever had that was close and they were never better than third cousins. Here's an old shot of the 5 iron before that set was stolen from the trunk of my car. That squared off toe and " 7 grooves high in the neck/heel" blade profile is what makes them perfect.
