Of those 3, I’d choose 2.5+.

Long time Ping bag user and just got a 2021 Sun Mountain 2.5+ and am very impressed.  I walk the majority of rounds and can't wait to get this out on the course.  Full length boxed dividers are great being that I carry 14 clubs with midsize grips.

No, just the standard (white, red, black colorway) as sometimes I will bring a few extra clubs to the range.

Is there any chance you can post a few pictures? That’s the exact bag I want and I’m wondering what the red looks like in person. Glad you’re impressed with it. Thanks!

I have the 2020 SM 2.5+ and its a great bag, but the new pocket above the ball pocket is a game changer and will probably upgrade. 

 

Having 14 clubs and mid-sized grips makes the bag selection very limited unless you want to deal with tons of club tangle, the sun mountain's are the best for this. Just wish they released an unbranded version

Couldn’t agree more, that extra pocket was the tipping point for me to choose the sun mountain. Played 23 holes today, and the bag was everything I hoped it would be. A few minor complaints here or there, but more than enough storage and so much lighter than the Ping Hoofer I came from.

at this point, durability is the only question I have. I feel like it has all the pockets and everything you would need, getting ready to head to Orlando next week for six rounds in five days and have no reason why I feel I couldn’t take it as my main bag.

My 2.5 was kinda shaky with durability, but the 2.5+ that I have now seems much tougher

Hope you love it. I ordered and returned as I couldn’t get it to hang quite right on my shoulders but the quality is top notch.

Hello all, this forum has bean really interesting for me, looking to upgrade my bag soon. From what people know, is there any difference between the 2020 and 2021 Sun Mountain 2.5+? I couldn't see anything major. Hoping to pick up a deal on the 2020 version if there's no significant difference.

Biggest difference is the extra pocket on the 2021 above the ball pocket

I don't mind the single pocket there on my 2019 2.5+ as I have a small pouch in that pocket for my tees, divot tool, etc.  But if you need a pocket for a rangefinder or something, that might be nice, though it does look like a narrow opening.

Well, I’m trying to decide.  You’re correct it’s made very well.  Feels so premium.   Love it actually.  But that damn top is so small.  Not sure I can live with it.

Can I possibly love a thread any more than this one? Amazing being able to do a deep dive like this. Big Scotland trip next year so I need to decide if any weight I save with the 2.5–which I have the cushy straps off an old broken SM to swap in—is worth what I’d given up in storage (rain gear, water bottle, extra layer, rangefinder), or help offset some of the weight of all that crap. 31 rounds in 20 days is going to be a major physical test for me. 

 

Guess I also need to keep the H2NO and StayDry as options, too. I carry 14 clubs, standard grips.  

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread, it’s an incredible resource.

Yeah it should be enough as it is, I'm not fussed about the extra pocket if the price is better on a previous version. They're just difficult to find here in the UK

I saw that the general consensus is the SM X-strap system isn't loved. I had that one on an Under Armour bag and fiddling with it last night, I agree, I had all sorts of problems getting it even remotely comfortable. Do you think it has anything to do with my size? I'm 5-6 and 220 pounds, so my chest and back are quite broad. I'm thinking the EZ Fit helps by adding space/width. Luckily i have the EZ Fit from an old bag that easily swapped on, so I could add it to 2.5 or 3.5.

 

I know it's all a matter of give and take, but any reviews on the waterproof bags? The H2NO or the Stadry? Seems like a big compromise to give up almost 2 pounds over the 2.5, and the opinion here seems to be the Titleists bags are a few steps behind the Sun Mountain options.

Do you guys ditch the umbrella on days when it doesn't look like rain? Obviously, you never know...but I feel like they add a good amount of weight and just more to deal with.

Absolutely, rarely carry the umbrella or rainhood

Rarely tote the umbrella.   I do pick lighter weight umbrellas however for those days where I need to bring it along.  I find rain gear and no umbrella is easier to manage unless it’s a downpour.

While I haven’t seen the 2021 StaDry versions yet, that’s what I’m ordering. The 2021 Titleist bags are just about perfect IMO.
