PXG's biggest problem is they don't have a consistently winning Tour roster. In fact, the girls and guys that do win seem to stop doing so once they switch over to PXG.

They are an upstart company in a declining industry with no track record and a weak roster (and getting weaker lately) selling "premium" equipment which is to say "more expensive for no provable value." It's not like anyone could truly believe their equipment is superior to the equipment the best players in the world are playing - is it? Do people really buy into that crap?

Let's be fair here. Those other brands have a track record. Their numbers are low today because they don't pay enough $$$ compared to the big boys like TM, Callaway, Titleist. Mizuno, especially, has an excellent reputation though they've never been big on paying huge endorsements.

PXG on the other hand burst onto the scene, throwing $$ to gain legitimacy. They also have good designers, and I'm sure the quality is excellent. Just not "better." The high margin is eaten up by the marketing, including the endorsement contracts. But, I guess a portion of the latter has just been relieved a bit.

Duf thru some messages from a buddy who had access to numbers last year. They were at 3.3% just behind Mizuno at 4.2 ahead of Cobra at 3.2, Cleveland and Wilson both under 1%. It didn’t have Xxio or Srixon so not sure if the Cleveland number includes those brands or not

look, you hate pxg which is fine, but this is truly beating a dead horse. There is a large population that has money that literally don't care what it costs for golf clubs, so why get upset about a brand charging more. A sweater from uniqlo functions the same as a sweater from gucci...the latter costs often times 100x+ more than the former.

We get your point but you can't say in one line they have a weak staff (aka aren't spending money on tour) and then say the companies PXG is outperforming don't spend enough money which is why their equipment sells less than pxg; that makes no sense. Even Wilson has a better staff I'd say, and yet Wilson sell less than pxg so let's not say things and twist facts to reach conclusions you've convinced yourself of.

I have no pxg clubs but you have to be fair, the company pricing 50% higher than others isn't necessarily trying to dominate market share.

Conversely you could also say your argument maligns the Taylormades of the world that also make ridiculous claims about performance and just pay their way to the high sales by paying top pros in cash to Rep their stuff. Tour presence means you need pros to sell your stuff; taylormade almost (maybe it actually did) filed for bankruptcy because they paid everyone. Sure they charge less but every company needs to have an angle because guess what...it's about taste and feel at a certain point because they all pretty much perform the same.

Except the x7 putter...performance that can't be matched from what I've seen in the commercial mine better arrive here before the snow melts.

Reavie is gone (check the webiste Friday and you won't find him listed). He was there because of Matt Rollins. Not sure how big of a loss he is. He's won one time since 2008 not considered overly known enough to have much of an impact on helping move their product. PXG's tour strategy has been somewhat strange from the beginning. There's really no rhyme nor reason or flow in who they've put on staff. Perhaps that is somewhat attributable to Parsons and his idiosyncratic personality, and perhaps it's somewhat attributable to Rollins and one of the reasons he was let go. Who knows. Either way, I don't see tour usage as having a major impact on the company's customer demographic purchasing profile.

Parsons has always said he wasn’t going to pay top dollar to pros. Most of the ones he signed were coming off deals and weren’t necessarily on demand by other brands. Lydia Ko is probably the only one who wasn’t on that situation but from a money aspect bigger name lpga players aren’t getting some of the money pga pros do
