A few of the courses around me are fertilized with Tonka Trunks. lol

I was rather taken back the first time I had one drive up the fairway behind me. I have never seen such a machine used to apply the stuff that keeps it green.

So, I think we have all seen my returns this year.  Frankly, they just aren't that good.  I have more losers than winners and am just a little below the surface trying to maintain a facade of competence.  Try as I might, even recalling the greats of the past (see Flamma and Spartacus), I simply cannot live up to their lofty successes.  I had to go to the Google for this one, but let's start out here.

Jay Cutler also had a below .500 record and is known for being angry and rarely taking the blame for his massive numbers of interceptions.  He played in a few cities and just never won the peoples hearts.  Well, I am going to write this one off and take Cry Me a River and the 2.5 points because it appears the Bears have simply replaced one sub .500 for another.  Where is Marc Trestman when you need him?

In 2009 the 49'ers drafter Kory Sheets.  A little known running back out of Purdue who really never gave the 49'ers any returns.  In fact, I know nothing about the guy, but I do know he wasn't wildly popular.  The 49'ers are playing the hapless Eagles, and while I want to support Flamma and the city of Brotherly Love, I think the 49'ers could come down with the Covid, send out a BART crew and cover the spread.  The Eagles just aren't right.  The stats show the proverbial "lay up" in football land is anything but for Flamma.  As a kid I remember truly feeling bad for Steve Sax, why don't have those same feelings?  Sociopathy is real friends, and I have the Sheets to prove it, apparently he ended up in Canada for his playing days and never suited up for the 49'ers or anyone other NFL team for that matter.  49'ers -6.5, they will win by a touchdown at least.

The final pick takes me back to the magical days of the Blonde Bomber.  Back when men were men and when their hair fell out, dang it, it was gone.  4 SBs (with an assist by Jackie Smith), and to show off his talents he has returned to the silver screen for a reality show.  I haven't watched an episode but it most assuredly will be a show about idiocy and hot women woo'ed based on his distant past.  Back when he was at the top of his small world.  Remember, this is the guy who couldn't spell Cat if you spotted him the C and the A, and just like anyone else, when all else fails take the minor celebrity and hit the circuit.  Hats off to you Terry, you were a great QB, perhaps you can re-invent yourself as a great showman.  In a brazen moment of prognostication I am going to take the bait and pick the Steelers to cover the 1.5 points on the road.  I think the actual line, if the Steelers didn't have the huge national following would favor the Titans.

Looking back, I may have write off this whole year.

Apparently the Titans are not going to be able to play, so i have to update my pick.

Having not done any homework, and being saddened there is no meaningful football to be played this weekend in lieu of the Steelers getting a premature bye week, I would like to select the Chiefs over the Patriots.  No, that is not what I want to do.  I don't like the hoodie, but he can scheme.  You know who can scheme, but only in regards to getting naked shots of his cheerleaders?  Yep, going back to that, I don't like Dan Snyder.  He is the poster boy for, or he was until a few years ago, "Just because you have money doesn't mean you are smart, or a good person."  I like Harbaugh and the Ravens driving down the street and putting a beatdown on the WFT, which will have Dan rubbing himself saying, WTF?

They always say, stay away from the 2 touchdown favorite, but in this instance I am coming down with the DC sickness of Hope and others.  Even when Harbaugh pulls the starters for some scrub time I still think they continue to score.

The commish has noted the replacement pic above due to the Steelers/Titans game being postponed.

The commish too wonders if the fact that for the first time since W was President there is not a Steeler's pick in your weekly selections could cause a small phenomenon?

The commish is thinking the omission of a Steeler's pick could definitely spark a turning point in your prognosticating skills, if even just for the week. Perhaps a 3-0 is in the cards.  Will the audience see that by you staying away from some Steel town action your pic/playbook opens up for an extended spell?

Stay tuned.

I do love that fact that because of the postponement this thread received another insightful, witty, and always so well written post from P3P.

Ravens -13 1/2 v. WFT is the replacement pick.

Dan Snyder is yet another useless Washingtonian.

My picks for week 4

Cleveland gives up the most yards through the air in the league. The Cowboys have played on the road well and only lost late in their games in LA and Seattle. Dak has a very nice record at home since the start of last season. He throws for over 300 yards on average in Jerry World. Cleveland has beaten Cincy and WFT. Cowboys by more than a td.

Dallas - 4 1/2

Tom Brady is 8-0 versus rookie qb's. Tom Brady is growing more comfortable at home in Tampa. It is the Tampa defense that gets this win and cover though, not the GOAT. Todd Bowles (the ole' Redskin safety...hooray) is one of the best DC's in the NFL according to the commish. Mr. Bowles' defense will rattle the rookie qb. The new Charger qb finds himself shaky. The GOAT will meet Herbert at mid field after the game and tell him it's a great job to be a qb in the league and stay with it rook.  Tampa by 10 or more.

Tampa -7 1/2

Getting points with the newly starting Big Nick in the windy city??? Sure I will take one order of that. Big games, Big arm, Big D**k. Indy has an old qb that is mediocre now. Someway the Bears pull this one out. Chicago wins outright by a point and the Old Style flows all over Chicagoland. Bears go to 4-0, and in big Nick they trust.

Chicago + 2 1/2

Old American Beers - Thrillist

Was just saying. If anyone wants to change their pick I'm okay with it. Besides doesn't seem to be etched in stone since players on both teams have tested positive.

Word for the day! Mascarpone.

As I see the dumpster fire burning bright in the horizon. Irony playing out on a national stage. Games being cancelled and or rescheduled. Two games that mean a lot to my fantasy teams. But that is here nor there. The Steel Curtain will remain dormant for now, as Italian restaurant pastry chefs scramble to figure what to do with the tiramisu that was made for the weekend of football between the Steelers and Titans.

Mascarpone has a very short shelf life but thankfully when you make tiramisu you freeze it before serving it.

When I was young I remember many pilgrimages to see my Mom's family including my grandparents, great Uncles and Aunts, and cousins. They were all Italian Catholic and my grandfather actually emigrated here on a boat from Calabria to Ellis Island and settled with his brother to work the mines in Western Pa. He married into a Calabrian family and thus I am part Calabrese.  My grandmother did not have access to mascarpone cheese but she was an incredible baker in her own right making both polish and Italian pastries and pies which would garner any blue ribbon down south at the county fair.

As a kid I remember my grandfather a huge man, who later died of the black lung from working in those mines, playing the guitar and harmonica singing old Italian folk songs. He loved his grandchildren and would drive us to the local dairy bar for frozen custard, and take us to the Constantine Egg Farm in western Pa. to show us how the eggs were processed from hen to carton, it was daunting when you were a kid from the Washington suburbs. He loved taking us bowling but would get agitated when we played the pinball machines and the advent of Atari video games.  He thought we were wasting money. As we got older things changed and weddings turned into funerals. But the love of football and baseball was a constant. My great uncles were avid sports fans. My uncle Tommy would go to Florida in retirement and work with the Detroit Tigers in spring training, my Uncle Jimmy ran a dairy bar on old scenic route 40 and they booked bets in the back room where the pool table and Tv was while drinking some Rolling Rocks and Iron City.  They would yell at us for slamming pool balls on the pool table.  My Uncle Jimmy was a player, never married but always had a steady woman friend I could never understand why he did not have kids. But he was not lonely.  A coal miners pension and profits from the dairy bar he ran meant he could live with his single sister my Aunt Rosie, they worked their gardens, and were contented as they did not drive either. I remember the out house and being bathed in a big metal tub in Briar Hill which was a coal mining town and very accessible by foot. His lady friends and family would take him into Uniontown and Brownsville when he needed to leave Briar Hill.  A man of the suit and tie and a purpose without the constraints of today's requirements. My admiration to anyone who ever worked in a mine still remains true today.  My grandfather was on the picket line long before we were born and has a picture in the local paper with his guitar and harmonica keeping the miners minds at ease and entertained while negotiations took place.

Waking up I just was reminded by the Steelers game being postponed, what my departed relatives would be saying at this point in time. Would they be talking about the pandemic of 1918? I doubt my Uncles and Aunts were even around then but my grandparents might have been very young then, or reminded by my great grandparents on proper protocols in such a tragic event.

As games get rescheduled and we move into week 4 I would have picked the under in the Steelers/Chiefs game but that is ok. Life happens.  No harm no foul.

I am not feeling the overs this week and not sure about the totals in general.

So it's back to the lines to mine out some winners

Feeling like some adjustments need to be made here.

A lot of money coming in on the Ravens after a loss to the Chiefs on national TV. My biggest fear would be a back door cover if they bring in a new QB. But that is not the only fear. they played decent against the hapless Eagles because the defense was on fire.  Washington has yet to do much on offense since the cheerleaders took offense on having to pose nude for Snyder and his suited band of perverts. GIve me the Under in that game. Could be a lot of Justin Tucker and some punts on the behalf of an over conservative Dwayne Haskins not wanting to turn the ball over.

Under 47 Wash/Balt

I love how Josh Allen has righted the ship early in the season in Buffalo  But this game is in Vegas Baby! And as a the late AL Davis said "Just win Baby!" Did he say that?  What happened?  I see the Bills coming back to earth on this road trip. Raiders are secret noone is talking about because the slots are always so loud you can't hear them coming. But I think Carr is having a silently good season and their running back Josh Jacobs is the real deal. Oops they even have a top tight end now.  I will take the Raiders with the +3 hook at home.

I think the contrarian play is in play this week also.  Staying contrarian and taking the Lions +4 with no Michael Thomas, the Lions will double down on Kamara because Drew is not airing it out long to stretch the field. Give me the underdogs at home. Detroit +4

Good Luck All and Enjoy Week 4! Pray for a Week 5!

Better late than never. The Gridiron Gods were prophetic when they had me going 1-2 last week as it has been a rough week this week, but the Sheriff remains in town. I am going to mix it up somewhat this week and maybe get a little crazy with my picks. Feast or Famine I am solely sticking with AFC South teams :

Colts -2 1/2 As commish put it; yes Big D**k Foles is taking over but just like his nickname you gotta score to win. No Viagra here.

Indy with the ground and pound win.

Jags +3 Minshew has had some spoty growth so far this season however, this week is when we get Magnum P.I. Minshew over the Burrows Bengals Boys. Stash is Cash.

Houston -3 1/2    We have a Bill O'Brien problem. Deshaun is playing angry without his #1 wideout but will find a way to wrangle the Viks launching the winless Texnas into the Win column.

So here is to game theory and that she may go in my favour with an all AFC South Ticket.

Happy Sunday Fellas.

Here is a quick partial summary.

Many of us had a quite poor go of it this week picking games.

Qqq, NCLancer and Puttinforthe8 have action in tonight's games.

Outside of those three participants the rest of us went.......

Pete3P 1-2

greenmachine 1-2

highergr0und 1-2

touch 1-2

Jerebear 0-3

doctoro 0-3

chuntsman 0-0 forgot to make picks. Correct sir?

Our current leader went 2-0 so far this week. Puttinforthe8 has K.C. tonight -7 as his 3rd pick. Should the early King in this contest get the Chief's pick that will make it a perfect week for him. That is called separation from the field ( in golf speak ) on the weekend so many of us did cruddy.

Complete tabulations and the updated standings to be posted tomorrow morning. The lines for week 5 will be also posted at that time.

Enjoy tonight's game that was regularly scheduled as MNF from Lambeau!

We NFL loving fans get a bonus game tonight as well. That game is brought to you by "Cam gets covid 19!"

Good Morning my fellow prognosticators.  In my efforts to be light and cryptic, I believe my selection for Da Bears was misconstrued.  "Cry me a River" is our own cry baby Phillip Rivers, so I believe they covered the spread, and the Ravens did it right on the number 14 for the 13.5, so I believe I went 2-1 this week with the Eagles letting me down... again.  P3P is at 6-6 for the season with nothing but clear skies in my future.

Yesterday I was confronted with a 180 yard shot from the trees.  Now I am in them enough that I have a fair amount of confidence in my ability to hit the low runner.  I picked the window, and before I could even register how flushed the iron was, it his the tree directly in from of me and was OB.  It was match play, and the 180 cart ride while my opponent won the hole was very relaxing.

P3P knocking limbs down with a punch 6 iron in search of light fireplace sticks to be used for fall nights up in big sky country!

Thank you for the clarification on your pick. Yes occasionally I struggle to decipher what your pick is because of the tie in's involved.

Pete3 is 2-1 for the week and .500 on the season at 6-6.

Announcing that puttinforthe8 (our player in first place for 2-3 weeks) has gone 3-0 this week. Picks: Buff, Seattle, and K.C.

10-2 on the year.

Very useful prognosticating a quarter of the way into the season!

Congrats

HMM....I have kept my marscapone around for a while and its still good.  Is that bad?

Announcing that puttinforthe8 (our player in first place for 2-3 weeks) has gone 3-0 this week. Picks: Buff, Seattle, and K.C.

10-2 on the year.

Very useful prognosticating a quarter of the way into the season!

Congrats

Wish I had a unit ($5k) on each pick IRL!  $40k would help make up for the 2020 losses due to CV, fires and other!
