Generally most of the time there is a set number released by Titleist and then each shop depending on size is allocated a certain amount to order.  For instance, Titleist might make 2,000 of them and insert name of random golf shop might get allocated up to say 4 to order for their customers.  Larger places like Roger Dunn or Dicks might not know their allocation and take too many orders unfortunately.

Interesting. I guess the most fun part of all of it is that the bulk of people snatching them up will have no intention of playing it. They will just be flipping it for twice the MSRP.

I fully intend on flipping mine to buy other stuff. Nice way to fund your next equipment purchase. Although sometimes it can backfire and you’re taking a loss 🤷‍♂️

Luckily ordered all 3 models on Dicks when they became available.

Will probably keep 1 and sell the other 2.

I had luck late in the game by going to Roger Dunn in LA. You have to pre-order in store for a spot on a reservation list. Once the clubs arrive early Aug you find out if you made the cut.

It is unlikely these are individually numbered.

My WW golf isn’t doing any pre-order/pre-sell in store despite what their own email says. Manager said I’m just going to put it out when we get it, first come first serve. I asked why, and it is what he wanted to do. Pretty disappointing and stupid to not even follow your own company procedure.

My opinion is no. Scotty released T22 Limited Edition in summer 2019. 2020 Special Select is nothing like it.

No - Scotty releases limited models that do not follow in a regular production line. For example the OG button back, T22, and many inspired by putters (Duval, Spieth, Mcilroy).

Almost always true... except for the JT inspired putter last year which did see a nearly identical production model a few months later.

 

So the question isn't totally crazy, but I do agree the button back is unique enough that I don't think these are at all a preview of where the next line might go.

There is a Scotty Cameron 2022 thread if anyone is interested in commenting. My feeling is Scotty might expand the current Special Select to a few new models. Given the success of 2020 Special Select, I don't see a reason to tweak or overhaul the existing models. Just my 2 cents.

Hmm, this could explain why the Custom Shop won’t refinish Special Select putters in black.

Question for you Scotty guys… picked up the Special Select Newport for my brother for his birthday and I bought it at the PGA SS.. it came with a black grip with red dancing scotty cameron script.. did they recently change stock grips for the line?
