Killer holes.

Any of these STUPID excessively long par 3's I keep seeing. I know playing from the back is supposed to be challenging but a 270 yd par 3 is ridiculous.

There's a 200 yard par 3 at my most played course that I seem to want to double bogey more than make par. It's pretty far downhill, a 4 iron for this 70 year old. It should be bogey at worst but not for me apparently.

This hole is easy if you stay on the correct fairway. I would usually not play this one, but it was too good. About 110 yards, you can see the flag just right of the stump up the hill. Hit the green and rolled off. I never saw the shot, but it felt right. Just a touch long.

Let's see, the 2 most difficult holes for me at my course, holes 1 and 4. Hole 1 because I don't do a proper warm up usually. Hole 4 is tough because it's a downhill par 4 dogleg right, forest and swamp to the right. There are a couple of ways to play it. Conservative play is to hit down to the 150 marker where there's a bailout area before the "creek" that feeds the swamp. If you're playing from the blues you basically need to take this route, unless you can banana slice on cue. I play from the whites which allows you to take the aggressive approach, that and when I have tried the conservative approach I push it right into the swamp.

There is a bit of an "alleyway" between 2 tall trees that gives you the target for your driver, however push it right and if you're lucky you're dealing with a clear out in between the tree lined fairway and the forest on the right, often requiring a punch out. If you hit it long/left you are okay, just may have to deal with the trees on the left side or come up the 5th fairway. The green is protected by a large bunker on the left and thick rough and little hills right and long. The green for the hole is the most difficult, very sloped and hard to hit a long putt on, best to try to lag it up close and 2 putt. Oddly enough it can be a good birdie chance because the green is driveable, but it can become a blow up hole really quickly.

The 9th at my home course is a tough hole. Kills me every time 😢

 

437 from the tips, usually straight into the wind with a slightly up hill shot into the green. 

 

The blue circles are marshland and very wet most of the year.

Having been a member there for two years, multiple holes at The International Pines from the Tiger Tees (8300+, 81.7 course rating). Number 5 is a 715 yard par 5. From those back tees, the tee shot requires a 275 carry, ravine below, woods on both sides of the hole. Then until you get to about 220 left, you're still blocked out from the green. Then the green is 100 yards long with literally mounds. It's something.
