I don't think the surge in golf is going away next year...

One of the primary reasons is these new guys are getting multiple rounds in this year. Golf might be getting into their blood. They also talk alot about the tour guys. Rory. Bryson. DJ. Etc. Kind of like Tiger By Committee (a 'Tiger Lite' if you will). Following and watching golf off the course triggers the urge to play.

All just IMO.

And this is why I joined a club. At $20 a round, it will pay for itself in a couple months.

Stock up on push carts and re-sell them in the spring, you’ll make a mint.

Hell, I've been trying to buy a gas cart for almost 2 months now. Still looking and might give up.

What's the ticker symbol for Calloway - can't find it?

Unfortunately, Cab Calloway passed away about 25 years ago.

But, Callaway stock has gone up a whopping 3.3% this year. Mix that with Boeing going down over 50% this year and the retirement might be a meager one.

If Tiger couldn't keep new people interested in golf, no one from this crop will. All data basically shows there was a Tiger spike in the late 90's and then over the next 20 years it returned to pre-Tiger levels.

This year is obviously very different as golf was one of the only things people could do. I would reasonably expect next year to also be good. Canada is saying at best 75% of the country will be vaccinated by next September and likely only high risk people by the beginning of next season, so we will likely have another partial Covid season.

If the numbers dramatically decrease next summer the same way they did this summer, and we decide to allow more sports, combined with parts of the country having been vaccinated, i think golf participation will drop slightly next season....and then fully return to normal in 2022

There was a few interesting points about Tigers impact, or lack there of in the new Doc on ESPN.

With Bryson juicing (you can't convince me he isn't), no telling where golf is headed.

Maybe the next gen of golfers is Brodozers and lifted golf carts. 🤣

Agree with the above. I've started taking a few "newbies" with me this year since they aren't comfortable doing their usual weekend athletics / hobbies / socials. I think as soon as all that is back, we will see it taper off again.

Now whether or not this pandemic is gone next year, that is a different discussion...

WARNING - BORING STOCK STUFF AND SOAPBOXES: I pulled every dollar I had out of my 401k stocks and into a money fund when I was sitting in Grand Central Station watching the market first fall off the cliff in Feb. Thank goodness for laptops.

When I realized this Covid thing wasn't anything like 1918, I came back in with half of everything in airlines, hotels and cruises. Boeing at that time was about $150 ish. I'd say it has a 50/50 chance of $300 by Jan 1.

I jumped into golf stocks in May when tee times were nowhere to be found and used driver prices on eBay went up 30%.

Had I been a bit more adventurous, I should have gone Nasdaq heavy with a side play of Riot (Bitcoin).

By late next year enough folks will have moved past this whole episode and onto our me-focused lives. Big vacations, trips, etc. will explode. Its just the way our society is (I say that in a bad way). I wish we would have handled this entire Covid thing with a less emotion but absorbed its lessons for a lifetime.

Fini.

I hope they all go somewhere else next year. Damn near impossible to get a tee time in Vancouver.

I bought a membership at a club out in the valley with a 45 minute highway drive because you can't get tee times anywhere around Vancouver.

I can barely get tee times at my new club.

I think it will definitely die down.  I'm only golfing this much because it doesn't make sense to play basketball in the middle of a pandemic.

You can play basketball the way MtlJeff did in his much acclaimed high school career....by playing zero defense.
