Ecco S-three

Since I tried S Three.... I replaced my older shoes (Eccos and Adidas) with two more pairs of S Threes.

This is the best Eccos made and top shelf stuff.  I am set with shoes. My feet stays dry and pain free after 36 holes walking. Lots of cushion there.

I walk 40-60 rounds a summer. In addition I'm a 40 mile a week runner and last year my feet were killing me--because of my golf shoes. Been ordering and returning like crazy looking for something I trust. Ordered the Biom4 because I liked the look but walking around the house I knew they werent the most comfortable for me. Although they arent the sexiest, I returned them for the S-three. What a shoe! Ive now walked 7 rounds in them and they are fantastic. I have two pairs. I would love some nicer colorways but I do love this shoe. Hopefully they keep the line going forward.

That’s what their insoles are for.  So I typically wear 13/14 in shoes.  14 in Nike, 13 in adidas and True.  My Ecco biom hybrid 47 fit great with the insole.   The s-three were kind of tight around the foot.  Removed the insole and they are now perfect.   They use the insole to fit the half sizes.  That’s why the boxes say 13/13.5 and so on for a size 47.

You removed the entire insole? Did you replace with anything? Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but sounds like your foot is directly on the inside portion of the sole which is usually quite firm. Sounds like you'd be lower to the ground, possible with less drop, and like it would be uncomfortable.

If you look at their sizing it is a 10-10.5.  Not just a 10 or 10.5.  The insole is removable and allows for half size adjustments.

I really don’t need any more shoes but couldn’t resist. Bought another pair of s- three today. The Ecco outlet (full price store) had the grey and yellow (not a favorite of mine, that colorway) marked down to $179 and 40% off.  The white/Carolina blue s-threes are my favorite shoes to date.  Thought last year’s codechaos took the comfy title (even tho I didn’t care for their looks that much but much prefer them to the new ones).

I Iove these s-three enough to buy a color I don’t even like.  I was real close to buying the adidas solarthon,  but i know these are great shoes and for $108.  Deal.

I still have NOT seen the IceMan version in white and light blue.  Love those.

Went to GG looking for the S3, they did not have them, however they did have the new H4 and the fit was great so I picked them up. Not sure if they will differ comfort wise from the S3, but I wanted a pair before my next round on Monday.

Have you received these yet? If so, how's the grey and yellow in real life? On screen, that yellow reads a little greenish, which makes me gun-shy.  At 108 I would have snapped them up in a NY minute, but at the current 140 or so the yellow tint has me wavering.

I’m not the biggest fan of the color but yes, for $108, I had to have them.
The leather is grey, and looks fine.  But for a gore Tex shoe that is this comfy, I’m happy.

I ordered the exact pair you have yesterday.  I'm too lazy to go to the local Ecco outlet store, so I bought it online direct from their website.  Who knows if they would even have my size in the store right?  I didn't get as good of a deal as you, but they have a sale going on for 25% off all sale items.  Ended up paying 145 which isn't too bad for shoes that retail for 200.  I'm sure the S-three will kick a** like the Biom hybrid 3 GTX which I have.  Gotta love that Gore-Tex.

Trying to decide between the S-three and the new Codechaos.  Looks aside, has anyone tried both and able to compare?  I have tried on the Codechaos which are comfortable.  I would not be able to try on the S-three before buying them from ecco.com as I don't have a store nearby that carries them.  Thanks.

I think the Chaos seems more comfortable because of the more spongy sole, but to me they are too narrow toward the toes. The Ecco allows your forefoot to sit naturally and I find it to be more stable. Just a better fit overall which makes it more comfortable in the long run..

Codechaos are more plush for sure.  I have the 2019.  However, they are a soft cushion ride and if you walk, may be better.   But they are like a better (meaning more comfy) athletic shoe with little support.   The s-three are more like a more comfy adidas 360 shoe.   They have way better traction than codechaos (my biggest gripe with them) and support/stability is fantastic.

codechaos was actually great at gripping in wet weather but it was in dry conditions my back foot would spin out some.

Is Ecco even offering the BOA system in the new 3 series?

I can’t find them online anywhere.

I have 2 pair of the BOA prior gen and about 250 rounds on them - 125 ea. The Boa is just starting to not hold so that I need to re-tighten several times per round. And I am very hard on shoes. Back in the day 2000-2007 when Adidas 3 stripe was king, I would walk everyday and get about 30 days from a pair of shoes.

Does anyone else get annoying squeak when you push off after each step? Trying to figure out if I should be returning and getting a different shoe or if I just got a bad pair?

I have 2 pairs and have no squeak.

I just broke them in with one range session and played 18.  So far so good.  No squeaks so far.  Extremely comfortable like the Biom Hybrid 3.  They have better grip as well.  I'm going on a vacay to Palm Springs for my birthday this weekend.  Can't wait to get out there with my S-Three!

I have 2 pair of hybrid 3 BOA and this the s three is better in every way.  Grip is way better.

Grip is better for sure.  However, comfort and feel is subjective.  I still feel as though the Biom Hybrid 3 is a little more comfortable.

Bump. Considering picking up a pair of 2023 S Threes. Any additional feedback now that this model has been established in their line-up for awhile? I see some “squeak” issues mentioned above. Anyone else find that to be the case with their newer iterations?
