Golfwrx does not have access to the Darrell Survey as it's a pay for service.

I have no idea but I've asked about it before which is why i know WRX doesn't have access.  I was surprised to hear they didn't.

If one equipment company published the weekly results - why would any others subscribe?

we won't see it because we dont pay for it...besides what purpose is it here? is it going to change your mind on the equipment you use...not likely, you use what you use because its what you can afford or you can justify to yourself that its the best equipment because your favorite player(s) uses it...the Darrell Survey is like the Nielsen ratings, it makes you feel good about what you use  like the Nielsen ratings give you affirmation on what you watch

If the basis of trying to get access to the Survey here on GolfWRX is "what purpose does it have here?", and if the same basis were applied to everything on GolfWRX, then this would be a pretty barren website.

This is a golf forum to discuss all things golf.  The top 3 driver threads on the "Tour and Pre-release forum" are around 60 pages each right now.  How can we talk about the Taylor Made SIM 2.0 for 60 pages, but not have any reason to talk about the results of the Darrell Survey, which would represent an ongoing update to tour usage and trends, and which could ultimately (in)validate so much postulation that occurs here in other forums.

If the Survey is only available to manufacturers, then I guess that is strange and stupid, but that would end the conversation here.  Seems it is not in the financial interests of the Survey to limit who can read it, but that's perhaps my ignorance.

It’s “stupid” for a firm that makes its money doing valuable market research to give it away?

Is the survey even that relevant any more?  Just about every player now has a driver through putter club deal and a shoe and glove deal as well. Back in the day when players were largely choosing their clubs, especially wedges, putters and fairway woods it was insightful to know what they were choosing. But today almost every player is under contract and is not really choosing the clubs in their bag. The survey used to show the tour’s preferences for balls and clubs. Now it mostly shows who is on what equipment company’s payroll.

Am I incorrect in thinking this?

One of the things it does is allow companies to track that folks are doing what their contracts require.  Lots of uses for the manufacturers.

Edit:  knew nothing about it btw, but found this and assume some of the purposes are still the same. https://Not allowed because of spam.com/how-the-darrell-survey-works/

There is none.

To be fair, what purpose does any of this have? Like our opinions on anything to do with the Tour are completely worthless yet, here we are...
