Bubba's Head Covers -- what are they covering?

I've got a theory about Bubba's ghastly headcovers -- what if they've covering up some new Ping i59s?  Any one know what he's playing under those headcovers?

It looks to be just a shipping/traveling precaution. All pics are prior to tournament start. On PGA Tour live last week I didn't see them in use while playing.

 

If I'm wrong please let me know.

That's probably the most logical explanation.  Damn!  I was hoping for something cool under those head covers.

He's definitely using the covers during the tournament. You can see them in the video of him hitting driver on 16.

Haven’t seen pics, but putting headcovers on Ping irons is like putting a Car bra on a M1 Abrams.

He’s had them on during play both rounds in Scottsdale.

Yeah, I saw that too.  That's what makes me think there's something under them.  They're so ugly and ridiculous.  They've just got to be hiding some prototype.   The pink driver is one thing, but head covers ??!!?!!?

He's not hiding anything under them. He plays S55's. 

 

I think he's got the iron covers on there for two reasons. 1) Because he's trying to be different (for some reason he loves to be different i.e. the pink driver, tiktok dances in a bunker, and etc...), and 2) because Ping is probably paying him extra to use them.

I looked them up on Ebay. People are asking $160 to $220 for the same set he is using.

At those prices I will have to buy a cheap set of covers to cover my expensive set so they do get messed up.
