Bought a collection of ping stuff

Recommended Posts

Wow - great score!  You may already know this but your Eye 2 becu lob wedge is worth a pretty penny on its own (if it's unused or near mint, $200 ballpark).

The irons, the blonde woods - which look unused - and the bags are all great.  True Ping porn!

Hi all,

First time poster and this score made me join.  Saw a Craigslist ad for some copper pings and a bag at a reasonable price.  Called the guy and he had a ton of stuff. I bought it all.  I left one thing behind because it was pretty expensive.  It was a new old stock palmer persimmion wood that Palmer himself pulled out of a bag at some event and gave to his brother.  He told me he had pics of his brother with Palmer and the wood.  Wife wanted him to sell all the stuff.  Apparently he wanted to display it all.  Here's some pics.  I know a lot of people like ping so here's some ping porn (and a little Titleist).

I have a vintag bag fetish so posting a pic of my bags also.

That Cameron putter looks to have the PVD finish on it.  That is not a standard OTR finish.  Nice score!

Hello,

Can you elaborate on what the PVD finish is?  I just thought it was the black pearl finish?

Also, can anyone tell me what that black ping putter cover might be worth on top of the putters?  I get a lot of questions about that.  I have no clue and only found one on ebay for $225.  However, figure that might be some idiot pricing.

Wow!  Fantastic score!   I hope my wife never tells me to get rid of all my stuff, although I can think of the first thing I’d get rid of if she said that. 😉

I really dig those 70’s Titleist bags.  Great colors on those.

And did the SuperChexx game come with the clubs too?  😁

I game the titleist bags.  The blue one I found on ebay for $125. It was NOS. Still had the plastic film over the name plate.  I can't believe people don't appreciate these more and they sell for that cheap.  I get comments on it whenever I go out.

LOL, that is what the Black Pearl finish is.  Just another fancy marketing name Cameron puts on things.  They are one in the same.

Probably more out of convenience than anything else.

Is the Cameron putter a Circle T?  That would be a huge score.  The cover doesn't look OTR either.  None the less this is a great acquisition.

One of the reasons people do not use those bags anymore is because they are well built and due to that they are heavy. Another reason car trunks in general are not as big as they used to be. But I like them--- I have several Burton and Miller Ryder Cup bags. My other main bag is a 90s early Burton Mini Staff with no logos except on the ball pocket it has the name of the club down here it came from. Right now I am using my classic Jones due to my back injury and it fits good on my vintage Bag Boy pull cart for range duty.

I believe the black dot eye 2 are the plus no plus version.  They barely looked gamed. Sand still has sti ker on grip. Wish I had 75 posts because I'd post this stuff up here instead of other sites.  The guy I bought these from had a sweet set of Titleist 680 forged that looked sick.  I wouldn't mind playing those buy I'm probably not good enough.

Absolutely stellar score of OSP (Old School Ping) implements and bags.  Although the E2's are not the + no + model.  Never seen BeCu + no + and the Pat #'s for the no + are 4.512.577 & 4.612.813.  The S wedge looks to be the E2+ version (sole shape), but difficult to assess from the pics.  A pic of the back cavity would further identify.

Nevertheless, a desirable set of Cu's in this condition with original grips to the right collector.  Perform your due diligence research to determine FMV.  Originality is hard to find with clubs of this vintage.  The Ping Zing woods are in excellent condition, with the mostly matching "fuzzy" head covers.  Zing blondes are sought after in the OSP market.

What Ping putters are in the acquisition?  See a B60, likely CU as it wasn't made in MnBr.  The one to the immediate left looks to be Cu as well.  Can't tell much about the Ping putter head cover from the picture.  Looks to be a non-model specific one that was offered by Ping some years back.  IDK about $225, that seems to be over valued.

There's a couple very active FB groups that focus on implements such as these.  If you do the FB thing.  One is a general discussion group and the second is a BST group.  The latter may be relevant if you're contemplating liquidating some of this acquisition.  Many very knowledgeable individuals are active participants (Bobby Grace, Dalton "Pongman" Daves, couple of former Ping employees) and both have worldwide exposure.

Thank you for the correction and information.  Yes, the other putter is a b60 with cover.

With apologies to the OP.....

I wouldn't consider a Cameron to be a "find."  An original Tad Moore TM-2, or a TP Mills, Ping BeCu or BeNi putters, *those* would be finds.  Camerons.... meh.

Oh, I'm sorry, I think my biases are showing.  😊😁

I'm sorry, I'm hitting you with something of a running joke.  I really don't care for Titleist at all, and feel obliged to occasionally make comments.  🙂

being a bit more topical...  this is one heck of a find.  I really like the BeCu putters and irons, the Eye2's look to be in nice condition.

The Palmer driver and Zing Blondes are an excellent bonus.

Really good stuff, and a thank you for sharing.  <tip cap>

LOL If you get lucky enough to find a rusty Cameron and could putt with it like I putt with "Rusty" then you might like them---- Well honestly I like Rusty but would not go out of the way to get a new shiny one. As good as "Rusty" feels I would not care if it had been a Wal Mart Wilson it just happened to be a Scotty Cameron. Had a Scotty Fan Boy tell me one day I needed to get it restored. What For? I asked him it putts good like it is and I take the money off of pretty boys like you!!!

I've actually tried Camerons.  It was back in my early days of golf, was at a shop with a friend and fellow golf forum nerd.  I was trying a few putters, grabbed a Cameron, putted with it for a while.  Then I putted with a TP Mills (from the Mizuno years), quite a bit better feel.

The reaction when I shared that was pretty funny.  😁🤔

The Ping BeCu B60 is one of my favourite looking putters.

Problem is, I can't putt with one to save my life. I tend to hit putters with that type of neck (plumber's neck?) left, so the B60, Anser and Anser 2 are all out for me.

Beautiful putter, though.

I ended up advertantly with a plethera of TP Mills putters the old Spalding Kind. Seems like that for a while they were turning up on the yard. I had always wanted a Mizuno TP Mills #1 and about 2 years ago did a trade deal and got one. One of those things I love the looks and feel but can not putt worth a hoot with it

Those are the No + or original version. Sweet set. The plus no plus is the newer grind/shape with the old grooves. I have a mint set 3-SW basically unused. and an unmatching LW, but still +no+.

Love the old staff bags too.

Educate me as my head is now spinning. Are these the least sought after without square grooves?

Is below accurate:

Most desirable - +no+

Second - + model

Third - Regular usga conforming non square grooves(mine?)

I would say the plus no plus are the most sought after. They have the old box grooves (which yours also have - the one's that created all the controversy with the USGA), that spin the most, and the latest grind in the wedges. I think it comes down to the fact that they are the rarest version. They still come up a lot for an older club, but the other two versions are everywhere.

Thanks.  So I can reference mine as square grooves, just the common ones.
