The completely masked lady wouldn't let her feet touch the ground as she took a shot despite a few ants were seen nearby. She was having a panic attack. Done with women's golf until they ban the masks. So dumb. We want  to watch personalities, not masked robots.

The rough is kinda useless if your getting relief all time cause of the fire ants lol  I understand relief though, I hear fire ants bites hurt big time.

 She can take it right away if she wants or next season if she wants,  I know Brooke took it right away when she won in Portland back 2015, although she probably should have deferred and she'd been rookie of the year.

They do hurt... There's a clip of Matsuyama deciding to hit one (despite having the option to take a better lie) on one PGA tournament thus year just before he won the Masters (I don't remember if it was at the Valero where he was seen removing some articles if clothing?😂) Maybe thats the omen needed, go hit some red hot fire ants to earn the bug, I mean the big masters...

 

Now imagine LPGA players hitting fire ants and having to remove articles of clothing as a result of it... 😎, Will that wake ppl up at 346am ET?

I really think we're seeing something extraordinary here.

When Amy Yang is T20 after any round in Thailand, you know Koreans are in trouble.  Indeed, there aren't any Koreans inside the Top-10.

 

With Jutuanugarn sisters, Patty Tavatanakit and Atthaya Thitikul, Thailand will be a handful in any international competition; be it the Olympics or International Crown.

 

Incidentally, Patty is -15 in her last two rounds.  It's now very clear that it's a sign of things to come when Patty shot -11 at the final round of 2019 Thornberry; I just didn't know it.

Another 2 rounds of this and this thread will start to split hairs with Jen (Thitikul's nickname), Patty and Ariya...😂

However even before we get there i was on the record with @Stoochfor daring to say Jen all the way 😎 props to him for writing it first...

 

Itll be interesting to see how Jen handles those holes she eagled in round 1... she's going to be as good as Yuka (neck and neck, these 2 in my view if you do a tale of the tape) in the years to come, barring injury... These 2 are further ahead in an "all around game" vs Bianca even as of now with Bianca already in LPGA ... (Had that in a post buried a few months/a year or two ago when @18majors asked to compare Yuka vs Bianca then even before they turned pros) ... it'll be interesting to watch Jen's devt...

 

Needless to say, I'm with Jen on this tournament, though my contest picks lead me to still follow SYR and Su!!! 😂

The course looks very soft. Drives are getting very little rollout. 

 

Preferred lies during the first round. There was rain in the forecast, so no big surprise.

I had my suspicions about the 'preferred lies'.  I only have UTube so cannot see all the play.  If anyone knows the Siam Local Rule and how far player can move ball from original spot, that would be helpful.

I did see Lydia's ball hit near the 15th (?) green just behind a brown patch.  Or was that a sprinkler head?  Anyway, when Lydia played the shot she was 1 yard from the original spot.  So, Local Rule only if ball near sprinkler head but is that rule also in force?

Preferred lies is generally 1 club length when playing from a tightly mowed area. I haven't got to Lydia's shot yet, but was it chipping area? 

 

They also generally allow relief near the green when one is within 2 club lengths of a sprinkler head to allow putting from off the green. 

 

Edit: it was actually on the par 3 16th. Lydia was in the (closely mown) short grass behind the green, so she was allowed one club length due to preferred lies.

Not quite Amy Yang smooth, but Patty sure has nice tempo. Lots of power without looking like she's attacking the ball.

See history to predict the future, she shares qualities of other good players, she with Lydia and Brooke won Pro events at 14 and if she had focused more on the LPGA I think she would also have matched Lydia, Brooke (and Lexi) as players who won their 1st LPGA event before she was 18, I've pegged her as a future star for a number of years now.  

 

Plus at 66-1, if she wins I will get the reward I so richly deserve.😇😂

This is a large part of why she has been very accurate, relative to how far she hits it.  She very rarely hits a drive well off line.
