Looking for 1 iron shaft options

A few months back my 1 iron shaft snapped at the hosel.    I am looking for some options on a reshaft.   It is the Taylor made UDI 1 iron.     I have a very high swing speed.. last Track man session going all out I can get into the low 140's.   I rarely swing like this on any course so playing speed is still probably upper 120's to low 130's... So hoping for a shaft that is low spinning and can hold up if I need to take a rip at one out of the rough.   Thanks

The shaft I broke was a nippon Pro modus,  120 TX.. 126.... I was wondering if there was something slightly lower launching.. with less spin ?

Are you looking for a low/low or mid/mid shaft?  Steel or graphite.  I would recommend graphite.  Hardly anyone plays steel in their UDI anyways.  I could recommend a few options.  Ventus blue or black 10x, KBS proto 105x, DI-95x, IZ-95x.  These will all be low/low to mid/low shafts.   I play the KBS proto 105x and love it as it's not prone to go left as much and is heavy enough.

Another slightly different option you might consider is a Nventix Nunchuk carbon shaft.  They are very stout and come up used on Ebay for reasonable prices.  I use a used wood/driver shaft, but you could use the hybrid model as well.  They are 106 g uncut, but about 85-95 g cut depending on your driving iron length.   I happen to have a spare in my collection and tried it in my 19 degree 2i and have been really impressed.  It would be a fairly cheap experiment.

I have DI 95x in my udi but my speed is nothing like matchplay's! Lovely shaft but I think you'll need something a bit heavier and lower launching. Mine is a 3 iron though. Good luck finding the right shaft 👍🏼

I have a low-launching Mitsubishi - Tensei AV White AM2 "S" cut to 39.5" at 90 grams in my 718 T-MB 17' 2 iron.  My Mizuno MB 1 iron is 16' with PX 6.0, 120g.  Tensei AV White AM2 also has an 88 gram, 41" "X" for 1 iron.  They are for strong players.

 

My SS isn't like yours still, yesterday, I was getting my 2i out there 220-230yds.  This ole man was feeling good.  I played a Par 3 measuring 232yds, used 2 iron and reached the middle-front, about 225yds for easy Par.

Yeah I'm sure there are lots of hybrid shaft options out there for ya to try, I'm assuming the UDI is a .370.  Tensei White is pretty low/low off the top of my head.  Fuji's Ventus series are  crowd favorites for sure.  If you want the extremes you could just put a PX7.0 or a X7 in it.

Ordered the ventus black... Have a quick question for those club builders out there.  The head is apparently a .355 and the shaft is .370.    My club guy reached out and said he could taper the shaft....    will this work ?   I have already had this head go flying off of two different shafts in the past year ?    '

Yes, it's actually very easy to add a taper to a graphite .370 shaft (and no effect on performance or structural integrity).    Boring out the head is another perfectly valid option.   Neither approach is inherently any better than the other (assuming the right tools are available for boring).

Agreed, although in this case I think tapering the shaft would be vastly preferable as the original TP/RSI UDI seems to be REALLY hard steel, and reaming the hosel might be a pain. 

I would also highly recommend spending some time fine tuning the head weight IF the new shaft causes the whole club to feel a bit light. Going from a 125g Modus TX to a ~100g composite shaft might be a bit of a shock, especially at your insane speeds. Hotmelt in the head is absolutely your friend with these clubs (the hotmelt port is behind the cavity badge). Rough it in with lead tape on the back and finalize with the melt for a 110% increase in overall sexiness. 😅
