Oil Can Scotty Cameron Putters

I have recently purchased an Oil Can Finish Scotty Cameron 009. I know that these have to be regularly oiled but im new to this area.

Can anyone recommend a particular oil to use, how to apply, what to apply with and how often to apply to the putter head?

Eezox is recommended by many. After each usage depending on conditions, maybe weekly if just hanging on the wall or something, but be careful and go slowly to see how it goes at first.

Just get an oil cloth. Wipe it down periodically. Most important thing is keeping it dry (i.e. don't shove a wet and/or sandy putter into the headcover. Just wipe it down with a towel before it goes in headcover and periodically oil).

I’ve used baby oil for about 15 years and have never had a spot of rust.

@PETERMCKEE7see if these previous forum postings give further insights ( and some tricks & tips) re which oils to use for your putter. Eezox and other gun oils have often been discussed; alternatively, silicon spray also highly regarded.

Keep it simple with no questions and buy putter butter. It's specifically for gun blue or oil can finishes or any finish that is prone to corrode.

WD-40 will remove the paint fill

I've used Eezox and it works well.  My favorite, however, is Food Grade Silicone spray by CRC.  It puts a nice protective coating on the putter and the best part is it dries to the touch.
Many oils will leave a wet finish on the head which is greasy and picks up grass, dirt, and fertilizer from the green.
My wall hangers get sprayed 2-3 times a year and my gamers get wiped down and sprayed after every use.
I have over 100 putters, most of them carbon, and I have never had any issues with rust.
Spray it directly on the putter head, make sure you get inside the cavity, and then wipe down with a clean cloth.

Yes. this CRC food grade silicone works great. For avoiding rust most important is to never use a wet putter cover.

As vnutz and t Mac have said, both eexox and food grade silicone work great.
