November Golf Trip

Recommended Posts

Looking for suggestions on a November golf trip (mid-November). Not really sure what areas in the U.S. are in good condition at that time besides Arizona. We have heard mixed reviews on Myrtle at that time as well.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Hawaii, Southern California, Cabo, Vegas, Southern Utah (Mesquite/St George), Florida, etc....

Thanks, I should have mentioned we are looking for CONUS. Also probably avoiding Florida because we did Orlando last year and want to mix it up. Could do Jupiter/Tampa/Jax though I guess.

Honestly anywhere in the Southeast should be OK.  Yea you may get a chilly day but course conditions should still be great.  Myrtle, Pinehurst, RTJ Trail, Lake Oconee, Anywhere in FL.

Source:  Georgia resident.  We can play in shorts and a pullover up until December.

Cool, conditions and course quality are big for us, good to hear they are nice in Nov. Any particular spot on the RTJ Trail?

I wouldn't go that far.

Grasses are dormant unless courses overseed.

Might be shorts, might be 40s and grey skies.

I wouldn't plan a major destination trip that time of year anywhere north of florida.

Conditions in Arizona in November are not great. Most courses are just coming out of overseeding. You'll have soft, shaggy conditions with plenty of mud. Greens will be slow.

I know you don't want to do it again, but Florida is probably your best bet that time of year.

The southeast is an okay option, but as someone else mentioned most of the courses will be dormant by November (except the ones that overseed) so expect brown fairways, rough, and possibly greens. It doesn't mean the coursed will be in bad shape, but if you are wanting lush green grass then you might be in for a surprise. Also, the weather in the southeast is a toss up in November. Could be 80* and sunny one day and then 45* and raining the next.

FWIW I grew up in the southeast and still live there today (albeit slightly further north than where I was born/raised).

Fair enough.  Grasses will be going dormant but conditions should still be very good.  If you are looking for perfect conditions you are likely looking at So Cal or FL only.   I played Streamsong early January a few years ago and conditions were perfect, but it was still hot as hell.

Yea sounds like Florida is our consensus best bet. Anyone have any Florida trip suggestions, under say 1200 per guy for lodging and golf (5 days)?

Maybe Orlando course suggestions? We did Mission Inn, ChampionsGate CC, OCN both, Bella Collina, and Southern Dunes. Would prob do Bella again, maybe OCN.

Thanks again everyone for the help, already feeling better about our options.

Innisbrook just north of Tampa? You can also play the two courses at World Woods that are a short drive away.

Could always just send it at Bandon and see what happens. Temperature will be just about the same as it always is, and it's not like rain at Bandon is going be a shocking affair.

Not to mention tee times will be a lot cheaper than high season

Only negative would be days are pretty short in November at this latitude in Oregon so would be getting dark around 4:45-5:00 PM.

And obviously if you're looking for "nice" weather, Bandon will probably never be your pick
