Artisan Love?!?!

Recommended Posts

Have I ever said you're a really bad influence on me? 😂😂

Did you do an in person fitting or just over email/phone?

How long did it take?

Did you have an option to get the new 0220? If yes why did you pick the 0217 instead?

How narrow is this blade front to back compared to other Anser shapes?

Sorry for the questions, I would love an Artisan one day but I said I'd have to get fit to buy one.

LOL Thanks guys!

I spent about 45 minutes with John on the phone, going over what I thought my issue was and he came up with the solution. I sent him a link to the putter I was using and asked him to work his magic on an Arm or Mid lock. He did not disappoint!

I love the narrow blade of the 0217, so it was a no brainer! I'll work on getting a shot of it beside my Burns to show the difference. I do not like mid blades!!

No where near as much LOL

I didn't mind the offset on my ER2, but this one is just better. Plus John cut the loft in the head, so it doesn't look like a gap wedge at address, unlike the MidLock

That's nice to hear. I've dabbled with an both a regular arm lock and the evnroll, but never got comfortable with it. Like you said, you looks/feels wierd at address.

The trip is definitely on my bucket list.   For wedges and possibly a putter fitting.

I would do it myself! I did buy some wedges from a friend (actually we have the same initials) and I’ll be playing with them and the putter for the first time today!

Just got my custom mid-lock Artisan!

40”/370g/7* loft (4 cut in face, 3 on the neck)

I got a chance to roll it for a few minutes today, and I must say I’m excited. My putting has been my weakness this year, so hopefully it will spur some confidence!

Just got off the phone with my order. Placed an order for an Oxidado 0519, I will post pictures once I receive the putter (4-6 weeks)!

Did you do a phone fitting? What was your experience like?

Yes, I did a phone fitting. I just mirrored all of my specs that my putting coach from college had me in.

The experience was awesome. You work directly with John, he went well over the 30 minute time slot, he was super knowledgeable and helpful. It's obvious that he genuinely wants to make you a good club. He made some really good recommendations and was open to me contacting him in the future if I have any questions about my putter. A+ experience, we'll see how the putter turns out.

Nice! What do their putters cost these days if you don't mind me asking?

I believe the entry-level barebones stainless steel putter is $900. Depending on shafts, customization, finishes, and head material, the sky is the limit with how expensive you go.

It's expensive, but if you're an avid golfer then I'd say it's worth it. I'd rather have a putter built for me over a fancy Cameron that might not fit my stroke.

Had my fitting this past Thursday. It was an absolute amazing experience. John is a master of his craft. He was an absolute pleasure to do the fitting with. He really helped me with my stroke and simultaneously dialed me into a putter.

Im building an 0820 with a single bend shaft. I’m very excited to receive it in about 4-6 weeks.

I experienced a three hour fitting with John on Sep 3 - learned a lot during the fitting, including the old school way to putt - think Brad Faxon/Stan Utley - it's less mechanical, more athletic and even with my non-fitted putter, distance control is much improved as I wait for my putter - an 0519 in old school satin finish -- should be finished soon.

John has a great eye, even got me into a lighter head that will help me take the club back more smoothly and quickly. The heavier heads do not fit me as they do others.

During my fitting, the milling put a roll on the ball that was impressive, had putts that with other putters would have turned left and the Artisan kept the line better than my other putters. I was in awe.

John called and I picked up two Artisans from my September 3 fitting. Both roll the same - same milling, toe hang, counterbalance, headweight, grip, loft, offset, shaft. The finish and model are the difference.

We went to the putting green to check my stroke and he made some recommendations that worked. Feedback is good when it's from the guy who fit and made your putter.

Satin finish on the blade style with mid-milling; Chameleon finish on the "#7" style, both at 340g and 35 inches, adjustable weights, similar "satin" shaft.

Milling is responsive - not too soft or too harsh. The mid-mill is just right. Had a pro take the blade out of my hand and he could not stop talking about how much he liked the milling and the feel off the face.

I like the look of that blade at address, is that the 0220 or 0521?

Also really like the Chameleon finish they offer, probably would be the one I get myself.

That is the 0521 - looks better than I thought it would. Brings back Newport 2 memories in terms of shape but that was 12 yrs ago. John likes the Chameleon finish - it looks refined, the top is not shining at you, and the sole has some sheen to make it look great.

When you hold the putter, it just says "This is your putter." It feels good in the hand - every aspect of it was fit to you.

The fitter knows your stroke, your tendencies, and built it for you.

John is outstanding at his craft. The in-person fitting was awesome and produced the best putter I've ever owned. I ended up getting a 0418C with a stability shaft (pics are in another thread). Long putts outside 10 feet stop right by the hole or drop in. It's weighted wonderfully and my confidence with it is off the charts.

I thought that shape looked decent but at address it's much nicer. I like wide blades but some are too short heel to toe for me, definitely a shape I'd consider along with the 0120 and 0220. Going to find time to get down to Artisan for a fitting.
