hmmmm. Hard to remember, I think it was alignment along with the stroke; I am a very natural putter so don’t have much detail than that. Sorry.

Had a great round with my Artisan yesterday.  Sunk quite few 10 ft putts and a birdie so all good here.

Just picked up my dream putter from a fellow Texan on eBay. I’m over the moon. 
 

0120 Long Neck, Stainless in Black Crude with a top line. Exactly how I would’ve ordered it myself. I live about 15 minutes from Artisan and take lessons at the facility next door but have never wanted to pony up.

How's the width on that compared to other Anser 2 shapes? I like that the 0120 and 0220 got wider as the original ones were very slim.

Rough measurement with a ruler but it is 2/10 of a cm wider than the Ping PLD Anser 2. I also think it’s about 2/10 of a cm shorter heel to toe. Obviously thicker top line as well. I love the 0120 shape.

Without the fitting; how do you know everything is right for you? weight of the head made a huge difference for me!

Thanks! Weight is the only spec on this one that I was iffy on but I’ve owned enough different putters at different specs and done iPing enough to know my specs. That said, I would like to pick up another weight set just to see how I like it.

Really nice - solid but soft - its SOMEWHAT comparable to the Teryllium insert i think but with a more solid feel vs. spongy (thats how the Teryllium felt to me)

I saw a couple of 2201s in the build process a couple weeks back at the shop and they looked REALLY good.  I should have asked John if he had one I could putt with.  On second thought... I'm glad I didn't. 🙂

I saw a 2201 when I picked up my FC irons in early March.  I have been wanting to order one ever since.  Probably will pull the trigger in the Fall.  Looked fantastic and was accompanied by high praise from John.

never thought I’d pay that kind of money for a putter. I’ve only had standard off the rack type putters would’ve never thought of buying a Scotty. And now I’m about ready to pull the trigger on a $1000 putter. Retirement gift from me, to me.

Perfect time to buy a $1000 putter, when you have time to play a ton of golf.

I like the raw look of The 2201 in a satin blast in a sweepneck of same ilk. However I did see see the sweepneck in black with black shaft and like also. Any other opinions would be great

I think most would say listen to John and what he has to say on your putter build and what he would suggest. I haven't done anything with Artisan yet but whenever i do mine if John said a crescent mallet with a plumbers neck and a dot is what I need I'd buy it. FYI that is like my most hated setup.

Definitely listen to him, years of experience and he'll get you into the right set up. I placed an 0220 order this week and he had my specs from my 0418 and we talked through a bunch of things to get the blade specs perfected. Great guy!

I love my 0220 but the 2201 definitely has my eye as well (these name/numbers are getting confusing!). I'm hopeful to get iron/wedge fitting end of '23 or early '24 and check out teh 2201 then. Would love to see some user pics of 2201.

I had a fun time this morning doing what I would call a retro-fitting with John for my 0120 I picked up last month. John basically asked what I was looking to accomplish and I told him I'm putting great but wanted to confirm specs with him and that I'm open minded if he thinks this is ill-fitting for me. Long story short, we were both surprised at how well this build fit me as-is. He asked me how I knew my specs so well and I told him I've trialed and error-ed everything under the sun and also used iPing enough to have a good idea. We made a couple small tweaks to loft and length and I also picked up a heavier weight set for use on faster greens. The most valuable part of the visit for me was what I would call a mini-lesson. We talked about keeping my chin rock steady and being confident in aiming small and striking a good putt. I also got some really cool information on how they build putters with their focus on CG, learned about the importance of the weight of the hosel, and also hit a couple putts with the new 2201 which was just killer. I loved every second of it and I love this putter.

Went in for an iron fitting yesterday afternoon and left with a putter order as well.

 

Went back in the putter lab while Jamie was measuring up my current sticks and talked to John.  Nobody like him (or Jamie or Mike) that I've met in the business.  Greeted me by name even though I hadn't seen him in a few months.   Told him I was looking to build out a Dale head/009 clone built to my specs.  He immediately went over and grabbed a 0220 head and a titanium long neck hosel and put them on his cart.  He remembered long neck from two years ago???  Did my iron fitting then finished up the putter details with John after.
 

7 or 8 weeks from now this thing will be blacked out and custom.  It will be my grandson Bobby's putter one day in the (hopefully distant) future.

 

If you are thinking about Artisan, just do it.  And get to Fort Worth if at all possible.
