The updated 01 and 02 are so much nicer at least to my eye especially the 02.

Also what face milling is that? Light depth?

 Yeah.  Mine is light.

Just made the trip to Fort Worth to have my putter “re-fit”.  It was fit/ordered with John over the phone during peak COVID.

Anyway, I made it down to have John do a full fitting.  I figured he’d need to tweak the existing putter.  We talked, he had me hit a ton of putts and try a ton of putters/weights/etc.  I will be damned… we ended up with the exact same setup from our phone fitting.  He knows his stuff.  Truly next level.

For those of you who dog the cost, I get it.  It’s not cheap.  That being said, you are basically getting a phenomenal putting lesson for 3 hours while being fit.  While not cheap, it is certainly inline with comparable lesson prices.  I am confident my putting improved dramatically during the session.

As others have similarly said, a top 10 golf experience!

(Side note 1: yes, ordered another one… carbon this time)

(Side note 2: they are in the 130 player numbers for the irons, i watched a gentleman get fit after my fitting)

It's so worth it. I've now had my putter for almost 5 years, and have not even contemplated swapping it out of my bag at any point during that process. I have played 1 round without it in five years, and that's because the club pro was regripping it for me while I played.

Knowing that you have a putter that is right for your stroke is priceless and they do such a great job with the fittings/attention to detail.

I can't compare my Artisan putter to any others.  I came from a TM Spider to my Artisan blade.  Feel is completely different.

That said, my Artisan putter feels PERFECT to me.  Center strikes are solid and crisp.

I went for a driver fitting over in Dallas last year.  The guy who owns the shop fits for Cameron, Bettinardi, and Piretti among other brands.  When I got to the shop he took a look at my bag, pulled my putter, and smiled.  Then he grabbed his gamer to show me - an Artisan.  I think that says everything you need to say.

Thank you..I’ve had several small boutique putters over the past year and I’ve always said feel didn’t matter that much to me and I’m wrong hahah I’ve noticed a lot of them fall short of the feel compared to a SC and even Betti

My gamer putter will always be made by John at Artisan. The in-person fitting with him was great. NOBODY makes a better putter!

I think it was either @jh19 or @Phabs that did a phone fitting with John and got pretty much bang on perfect putter.

Now the feel part that is very subjective but they have different milling depths to get what you want.

Yep i did a phone fitting.  Putter was a little light from what I wanted but wasn't a big deal , i've rolled over 12,000 putts with it in 4 months now.

As far as looking for unicorn feel - it's a milled putter they all feel pretty damn similar if you get a mill depth your comfortable with.

12k putts? You have a wear mark on the center of the face yet?

The feel part is hard for sure for many cause people search and don't know what they want. Also don't factor ball, grip and shaft into feel too.

Its getting there 🤣, I’ll forgo posting a pic until its real apparent. 100 putts a day for the last 4 months usually broke up into 50 in the morning and 50 at night.

I had to add 5g’s via purchasing of a weight kit to mine from artisan but it feels great.  My opinion is you buy from artisan to own something that was made by the same hands that does/did tigers stuff, that was the allure for me.

I'll be watching and have to definitely get a wear mark on something of mine soon.

Yeah there are not many brands that can say they've build clubs for Tiger or just any major winner as an example.

My dad did a video fitting. I was living in Houston, he was in Scotland, I just got him to send me videos like I did at the fitting; he then filled in the questionnaire and boom he has a perfectly fitted putter. Getting someone to actually get he spec of your current putter makes a huge difference too.

And on the too light comment; John gave my dad two sets of weights and he used the ones that John thought would be right and he is very happy!

Underrated comment. With the correct milling, grip, ball, etc, any of these expensive putter makers can achieve whatever feel you want.  Heck....most of the $650-$700 guys can too.

If I was given a weight kit to fix the oops I’d of been a little less salty.  Missing a head weight on a four figure putter then paying 40 bucks for a weight kit left a little to be desired.  Regardless the putter is good now and I’m happy with it.

Was the headweight specifically ordered?

Yes it’s on the build sheet and if it wasn’t I wouldn’t have anything to say otherwise.  You can see it right of the toe of the putter the zero in 350 is covered by the grip

That stuff drives me a bit crazy aswell. It only takes a few small things ro ruin a putter for me lol.

Imo they should have swapped a weight for you for free. I see no reason not to.

Yeah I agree, water under the bridge.  I bought a set of 10 grams and am lucky to have access to machining capabilities that most don’t have so I milled the 10g’s down to the correct weight to get it to 350. I’m happy with finish, look and feel of the putter. That’s what really matters

Sorry, I’m redundant, I guess my real question is a lot of the price/value of these comes from the fitting aspect imo

even throw the phone Avenue do most hear feel like it added a value to the putter/experience?

thank you!

I've played a lot of golf in a lot of great places.

My putter fitting with John is a top 3 golf experience of all time.  It was that good.  If you can get here for it, do it.  A 3 hour putting lesson with a guy who knows his craft.  And then I got the putter 🙂

Its actually funny in my putter fitting, John's and my observations observations;

Alignment aid made no difference to me.

Weight was huge for me, the heavy putter was so much better for my long range pace control.

Milling I noticed no real difference so went with the mid milling.

John said I should never use a mallet putter!

What was the reasoning/explanation for never using a mallet? Curious as I tend to bounce back and forth.
