I note the announced sponsor exemption participant Destiny Lawson, the 2021 North Florida PGA Women’s Section champion and assistant golf professional at Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club in Ocala, Fla.

Seemed bound to happen🙂

A fairly deep Monday qualifier....including POSERS...... Muni & Bianca P.

I know you say this in jest . . . but aside from Muni and Bianca, who else is a "serious" contender to qualify?  Christina Kim?  Kelly Tan? Dottie?  -- She is playing well.  Perhaps Daniela Holmqvist or Klara Spilkova? 667662214_MondayQualifier-Pelican.png.0945a03084ac58cf618923d25ce07eba.pngPairings - Qualifier - 2021 Pelican Women's Championship.pdf

The degrees of separation of the top 20 players one might recognize is not that much...add in that it's ONLY ONE RD....and it's near impossible to predict the 2 qualifiers.

A WRX member who is a pretty good handicapper.....said the odds are even low for an 'obvious' contender.

He wouldn't even give Ariya 50/50 on a weekly basis when she was Monday qualifying.

One day you're hot...the next day not so much.

This list doesn't include

Sponsor invites                          Christina Kim,

WTH

Xtina is so phony and obnoxious....an invite?....Hello McFly.

In her 19 years on tour she really hasn't had any really significant endorsements....speaks volumes.

I think.... except for some of the more elite pros in the portfolio....I believe Parsons doesn't sign up large pro sponsorships.

There's actually a pretty good article on LPGA.com that talks about how the CEO of Dex Imaging wants to make this event a mainstay on the LPGA. However, you have to wonder why they removed themselves as a presenting sponsor.

A 'fluffy' article.

Dex Imaging was purchased in 2019 by Staples....maybe a reason why Dex is no longer a presenting sponsor...though it seems Dex might be operating as a separate entity with new ownership.

Now Konica Minolta & Raymond James are the presenting sponsors.

In the article...hilarious how they want the Pelican to be the women's version of the Masters....lol.

Something funny too....on the Dex website...there's a video of a Dex facility tour...they introduce the receptionist as the "Director of First Impressions"...lol.

LPGA's first 'Featured Hole' live stream will feature a par 3 with Lamborghinis on the line

"Live stream coverage of the 12th hole will feature live interviews by Amy Rogers and studio coverage from host George Savaricas and analyst Jim Gallagher. Coverage of the watery par 3 will begin at 7:45 a.m. ET on Thursday and Friday and 9:45 a.m. ET over the weekend. It will be free to consumers on the Peacock app."

Pretty funny that Austin Ernst already won a Lamborghini - I don’t really see her as the Lamborghini type!  Who would seem to be more of a natural?  Charley Hull?  Maria Fassi?

Most definitely Charley, Maria, Jenny Shin, Patty Tavatanakit, Gulia Molinaro, and maybe a few others.

Incidentally, the "win" is really a 2-year lease on the car only and not outright ownership.  I have to imagine that the resale value would still command a princely sum.

I forgot about Laura...as per above....I assume she takes it.

I believe Dame Laura has a couple of really fast cars....heck...she might already own a Lambo.

I believe on Feherty...Laura said the fastest she's driven a car is 190 mph or 190 kph???...but I think it's the former???....on the Autobahn???

I'm not an excessive driver...fastest I've driven is about 85 mph in AZ in 1997.

I think the only other LPGA pro that would be excited to win the Lambo would be Lexi...Lexi LUV's fast cars....I think she has a Vette.

Lexi's also earned a ton of endorsement $'s...so I don't see Lexi having an issue shelling out the taxable income/benefit & insurance for the Lambo for 2 years.

Austin is waiting on the cost of insurance for the Lambo to decide if she'll take the prize.

Austin will also have to factor in the taxable income/benefit of the 2 year lease.

I'm just guessing/eyeballing the lease payment.

Let's say a Lambo is $250,000....let's say a standard lease structure is a 4 year lease with a 50% residual at a 7% interest rate.

I'm calculating a lease payment at approx. $3000/mth...so if we assume Austin is at a 40% marginal tax rate....her cost of usage on the lease is about $1200/mth for 2 years.

I have no idea...but I'm guessing the insurance for the Lambo is about $2000-$3000/mth???

Back in the mid 90's....the company I worked at had a BMW Z3 up for grabs in each region in Canada in a sales contest....also a 2 year lease duration.

The guy who won for BC...... declined the prize....a family man with 5 mouths to feed...didn't want to pay the taxable benefit & insurance for a toy...he would have preferred a mini van prize.....lol.

The next 3 eligible participants in the contest had their names put into a hat...a winner was drawn from the hat.

I was thinking that the other day . . . on Monday when she won it.  I was thinking that there must be some cash equivalent to the car itself too.

"Ernst said she hadn’t gotten the information yet on how much the insurance will run her for two years. That number will determine whether or not it makes sense to accept the prize."

Based on Austin's words....I'm thinking it's all or nothing....maybe no cash equivalent???

I think most car HIO prizes originate from a car dealership and not the OEM...I could be wrong.

As a 2 year lease....I doubt a dealership bought HIO insurance???.....the odds of a payout are low.

I would think for exposure/advertising...the dealership would want someone to take the prize and not backdoor something with a cash equivalent???

What I find odd....is the HIO was awarded prior to actual tournament play and it seems like multiple leases are up for grabs...not just the 1st HIO.

Taking about HIO....decided last moment to hit the links today....I was 8" short to a 5th HIO.

I took my chances on the weather and as I drove through Burnaby & Coquitlam on Hwy 1...it was pouring....I was debating about turning around...but kept on driving...only a few sprinkles during the rd....I got lucky.

Weather forecast looks like garbage for 10 days...ugh.

Did Maria Fassi qualify for the event on her own? Article from Golfweek a short time back stated Fassi was granted a sponsor exemption. As was Stephanie Meadow.

https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2021/10/30/lpga-pelican-womens-championship-maria-fassi-sponsor-invite/

By extending Fassi the exemption, tournament officials have assured her a spot in the field should she not qualify on her own. Stephanie Meadow was granted a sponsor exemption, too, along with Destiny Lawson, the 2021 North Florida PGA Women’s Section champion and assistant golf professional at Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club in Ocala, Florida.
