Ping PLD Custom Program

^^^ Do it. It's an incredible experience and as a former bad putter who blamed his misses on his putter, I've never practiced or enjoyed putting more than I do with my B60. Also, you can go eat here: https://www.frybreadhouseaz.com/

My motto in life is regret what you did do, not what you didn’t do. I.e. treat yourself, don’t not do it and be left wondering if you should’ve done it. I just ordered a MySpider for this very reason, I’d rather do it and regret buying it than not do it and forever wonder. Can’t take money with you!

Anyone know what grip option from the program would be the closest the slamming Jumbo Sinkfit? …the one Bettinardi offers on their putters.

Dark Patina? Looks great for 2+ years, no rust at all. What have you done to keep it looking new?

Haven’t done anything other than always keep the cover on it don’t play on wet greens hardly ever as well. It’s gotten darker from its first day but overall pretty much the same

Does anyone know if the matte black finish can be stripped from a carbon putter using the  vinegar / CLR method that is used to strip black Vokeys raw?

I'd be terribly scared to try honestly. I'm sure a quick trip back to the PLD shop would get you the finish you're looking for, or if you're dead set on DIY, your fitter may have some advice for you.

28 Day turn around from Virtual Fitting chat. Got a status pic by 2nd week and the final product pics. My first ever putter was a Ping Milled Anser 1 handed down to my 15 yo for his H.S. golf and now gaming my first mallet.

Nice Looking putter there.  I got the Right handed version of it. Wondering if you know what the head weight is for the milled head alone.

I got one at my pld fitting in Feb of 23.  According to the fitter this was one of the last my day heads available that were made for the tour department.  No idea if they’ve made anymore by now.

Just a quick question: 

 

When you book the fitting (mine would be virtual) do they send the fitting kit out right away? Or do they typically wait until closer to your appt? The reason I am asking is because I am getting a surgery on 5/20/24. I wanted to book my fitting for about a month out in the hopes they would send the kit prior to my surgery date I can get the data recorded then when my appt is here I can go over data ect and place my order so I am not far behind. Thanks for any insight

They have the fitting kit delivered a week and a half before the virtual fitting date

Quick update on my thoughts after having this for a month. This is the best feeling putter I have ever owned. The PLD composite from the custom program is much different than the retail version. Best comparison I can think of would be to the Fujikura MC putter shafts, retail composite would be the Fujikura Smooth and the custom composite would be the X-Firm. The PLD is stable but not harsh, gives good feedback where your strike was on any given putt. 

 

The finish on the putter looks just as good as the day I got it. It has been a very wet spring in Michigan and I've just wiped it off after every use and it's been perfectly fine. 

 

As for the setup on the putter, although I am right eye dominant, the dot only on the top flange has been a gamechanger. With a line on my putter and my ball, I always felt like I was trying to keep the face as square as possible and keep those lines aligned throughout the whole stroke which led to a lot of pushes. Now I don't have that feeling and can release the putter much better. 

 

Overall right now I couldn't be happier with this decision and hope it stays that way for a long time. Fitting process really has me in the best possible setup, my speed control has never been better and I've made more mid range putts than ever before.

Sharing the results of my PLD Custom experience, delivered last month.  What an experience with Alex and a special appearance by Tony Serrano during my fit. 

 

I went in with the idea to build a high performance, modern mallet with clean aesthetics.  I had high expectations going in, and Ping PLD absolutely knocked it out of the park.  Could not have had a better experience.
