club plans for 2023

Does anyone know what the plans for TM and the others are for 2023? I saw a video saying TM may release a new burner driver but I don't know the legitimacy of it.

It’s pretty early for 2023.

Information is still sparse for fall 2022 releases.

If my memory serves right, the info that your hunting for will hit social media sometime in late Q4.

I figured it was a bit early, but i figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I'll keep a lookout for the info on 2023. But on a related note, what info have you heard for fall '22?

Titleist should be the MB/CB and woods/hybrids (don’t quote me) are due for tour seeding around the US open.

Ping should be up with irons/possibly woods (I don’t fully believe woods, this may be an update to crossovers).

I'd be very surprised if you see new woods from Ping prior to 2023. I can't quote the source (because I don't recall) but they've said they're not going to do a release this year.

Early 2023 for Ping _should_ include a replacement of:

G425 -> G430 Driver, Fairway, Hybrid, Iron.

G710 -> G730 Iron, though that may be earlier?

G LE2 -> G LE3 series, though that may be earlier?

i210 -> i230 Iron should happen earlier.

RogueST 9@11º 3D (ADDI 6X), 425 3w 14.5º (TourX), 430 3h 19º & 4 iCross (HZRDUS Red 6.0), i230 5-U, G4 54º, GFP 59º (DART105F4). 2021 Fetch (BGT Tour Black).

"Golf is just a dance with a stick, and a ball tells you how good a dancer you are."  LCP150mm in your fairway should be a full-time rule.

The only thing I've seen -- and it's incredibly vague, to the point that it's not even really worth mentioning, but oh well -- is Bryson hyping up the driver Cobra has coming next year. I don't recall who the interview was with, but he talked about how great next year's driver will be at an LTDx launch event ... which can't have made Cobra very happy. But he didn't offer any hints about the name, design characteristics vs. the LTDx or anything else.

Normal cycles would have Titleist and Ping rolling out new stuff later this year, but I haven't seen any reporting at all on model names, prototypes being tested, etc. that would really offer any details on those. (And that suits me just fine. Ping's fairway woods and hybrids are pretty much perfect right now, and I'd rather they just keep making exactly these models for as long as possible! Take the dumb turbulators off the drivers and call it a day.)

I am very intrigued on what Titleist will do with a new iteration of the 620 MB.

Taylormade:

Expect a Stealth 2.0 or some other name for sure.  They have never not had a 12 month release cycle, with likely a tour head, a standard head, and a draw model.  Their P-series irons are likely on the block again as the P770, P7Mc, and P7Mb have been in the line for almost 2 years now.  New Hi-Toe wedges and putters just launched recently and the MG wedges tend to have a 2-3 year cycle, so those will probably be left alone.

Callaway:

Rogue ST will go on "sell out not sell off" as per recent Callaway mantra where it will remain in the line at full price but become harder and harder to acquire as they will push fully whatever Epic/BB driver they release on the main cycles.  Expect a new Apex line of irons, along with the usual hybrid and woods, and probably a new batch of Toulon or Odyssey putters to compliment this release.

Titleist:

Vokey and T-series irons will remain likely for another year.  TSR is no secret and expected to be officially launched at the end of September.  Not sure about Cameron as it is has been a couple of years, they will probably be getting itchy for some new paintfill and names soon.

Mizuno:

New driver line and JPX model irons likely.  Everything has been hush but they are coming.  My rep just isn't sure if they are going to launch in the Fall or for the PGA Show release to get some hype going but he has seen them, he just couldn't say anything about it.

Srixon/Cleveland:

Z-series are now being petered out.  Should expect a new line of woods and irons to go with this.  Wouldn't surprise me to see a series of new RTX Zipcore 2.0 or something along those lines to match.

Ping:

G430 line and i230 (or whatever) line expected early next year.  Pics already available here.  Looks like a complimentary Glide Pro Forged Raw maybe as well, but perhaps as a WRX-only upcharge.  I would expect a new high MOI line as the Heppler and 2021 series are two+ years old at this point.  Expect a soft insert with high MOI.

I think Wilson will have a big year. The irons are always good but the new driver might be top tier. Now whether it sells as it should is another matter but I think it will perform as well, if not better, than most.

Wilson has a habit of shooting themselves in the foot with their drivers.  The C and D series ~15 years ago were stellar looking woods that, at the time, came with upgraded shafts like the V2 when nobody else but Ping even dreamt of doing such a thing.  The problem is they have zero marketing.  They will never outsell TM, Callaway, or Ping but if they put even a bit of money behind marketing their clubs I am sure they would nudge a few in that direction.  Further, they have become increasingly niche.  The past few seasons they have focused on these non-adjustable, lighter weight models.  I think they understand their demographic, older players who look back fondly of the clubs from the 1970s and 1980s and want to play them again.  However, this demographic focus is killing them.  It is a shrinking demographic due to age and memory.  People are brand loyal to an extent, but a parallel can be drawn in the car market to Buick.  They are really trying to push this cool, new aesthetic, but the reality is, I still see one Buick every 1000 cars and the majority of the time, it is being driven by a senior citizen.  When I worked Big Box retail the vast majority of people purchasing Wilson were older players who had fond memories from the past.  The younger guys walked right past them and headed for Titleist, Callaway, TM, and Mizuno.

I've been saying this for the better part of a decade now.  If Wilson could get a good marketing department, I am sure they would slowly see more adoption of their woods.  It's not hard to make a driver that is halfway okay this day.  You have companies like Ben Hogan, Sub 70, etc., that can make a decent driver and they are even smaller than Wilson is.  If they focused on pushing either a) their lower cost price point driver but still being good, or b) focusing on a tour-calibre club that can outperform the big boys it will sell.  A very recent example of this is Callaway with their X-Hot and Cobra with the F9.  Callaway was really hurting post X-20.  They hadn't made a decent driver or iron set in about 5 years and were just getting clobbered by TM in market share.  Suddenly, out of the blue after a really ugly line of garbage for 2-3 years (RAZR, anyone remember that?) they launched the X-Hot line followed immediately by the Big Bertha and Big Bertha Alpha the following year with the Apex 2014 and Apex Pro 2014 irons.  Suddenly, Callaway was crushing it and you couldn't keep their stuff in stock.  They had fresh marketing and a club that was significantly better than anything on the market at the time.  Cobra did this with the F9.  Their F6-F8 drivers were okay, nothing to write home about.  Then they launch the F9 and this thing was a ball speed beast and it seemed like every other person on this website had one.  They repositioned themselves as the one to beat in ballspeed on drivers, a crown they still have to this day IMO.

Wilson can do the same.  I think they are just super content with their baseball and basketball sales and selling their cheap package and junior sets that any sort of top-tier driver and iron line is an afterthought to them.  The irons and wedges especially perform great, they just put zero incentive out to get people interested in trying them and bringing them home.

I think your assessment is very good. I think Taylormade has to come back out with a p760. Their current iron line up is lacking. If you don’t like the feel of hallow irons, you then have to play their cb. They have a huge gap IMO. You can say callaway does overkill but Taylormade really should reassess their iron line
