Anyone else struggle with the Modus 120?

Hi All.  I have been struggling with the 120s.  Feels great but I think it's too light and soft to flex for me.  It seems like I'm most likely to miss left to the pull side.  I think part of it is the profile as well.  I'm trying the 125x soft stepped next.

I have never gotten along with the Modus 120.  Not sure why, they just don't work for me

I play the S in most shafts, but for me the 120X is a much better fit. Lower spin, a bit flatter trajectory and still has a smooth feel. 120 is a unique shaft with the biggest variance between 'love it' or 'hate it' of any shaft we talk about on WRX.

I think modus feels slow and mushy.  I've never gotten along with them.

Oddly I was looking at some old clubs in the garage today and the old Hogan Apex shafts have a very similar step pattern. Modus 120 is an amazing profile but you have to not be compensating a lot in your swing. If you’re forcing things you’ll spray and balloon the ball. Requires a very ordered and smooth move. Much prefer good old fashioned X100.

I've had good success with the 120x but NOT the stiff. I usually play the DG S300 but hit a few different iron and shaft combos when selecting my new irons and these worked well for my in the T100. They aren't for everyone. It's either you love 'em or hate 'em it seems.

I had Modus Tour 120's in sets of Z 785 and a combo set of ZX5/ZX7, and personally I really liked them. Very smooth profile and the feel is excellent.

 

To each their own though, everything's not for everybody.

For me at my fitting two years ago it was between modus 120 and kbs in S. Loved the modus feel, poorer dispersion, hence in the kbs. I bet the 120x would have been a better choice.

For me they work amazingly. Moved over to them from project X LZ and couldn’t believe the difference for my swing

Moved from Modus 120X to 125X.  Had the same issues with the 120, far too easy to turn them left.  125X solved that problem but still has that great Nippon feel.

Yes, I can’t stand them. One of the most popular shafts on the market and undeniable quality, but to each their own.

Lacked feedback to me. Couldnt feel where I was hitting the ball on the face. A flush shot and one that was half a ball off felt the same. To echo another’s comments above…felt mushy like I was hitting a ball from the 90s. Swing wise they were alright, but I dont load a shaft that hard. If I had to do it all over again, may have tried doweling the tips to maybe have them feel more rigid on impact.

I recently bought a set of Srixon Z-965 that had 125X in them, and they are similar to Dynamic Gold S300, imo.

Nice.  This is encouraging to me.  I had to blind order the 125 based on reviews ect because I couldn't find one in a fitting carts.

I agree with all this.  I couldn't shape a shot to save my life either with the modus 120.  Maybe a good option for the smooth swinger.

i have the modus 120x in my z forged irons.  im pretty bad at golf, but these shafts completely changed my game.  everything goes dead straight for me, and its nice to see the ball actually go in the air.  im a smoother, slower swinger.  i also finally understand what people talk about when they talk about 'feel' with these shafts.  im actually looking to see if there are similar bend profiles in graphite shafts for my woods.

From what I have seen these could work for the slicers out there.
