Women's NCAA screaming - UNWATCHABLE!

Recommended Posts

Gutsy performance by Oregon.  Looked like it was going be a blowout for Stanford. Didn't mind the screaming from the ladies.  Was more annoyed with the duck whistle.

Was really impressed with Emilia Migliaccio.  She seemed a natural while walking the course and doing the post match interviews.  She should take over Amanda Blumenherst's job on GC if she decides to pursue broadcasting in the future.

She was really good - quite a few people she could replace whether man or woman right now and I’d predict a long future.

What's with all the constant loud screaming? It sounds like a horror movie. It's unwatchable.

I thought the snow had all melted. Why don't you just go out and play golf?

It’s like an outsider looking in and not understanding what kind of pressure the players are under to perform not only for themselves but for their teammates and school. Looks off putting but I’m betting if you had a daughter or teammate or are one of the coaches, you would be yelling. I would 😜

Been watching it for days, great play and good golf.

Other than celebrations, which are spontaneous and justifiably emotional, the golf was focused and intense.

Rules violation was justified, stuff happens.

Didn’t see a thread on the tourney and didn’t want “women shrieking and are annoying” and “rules are dumb” to be the poor takes on a terrific event.

The rule is dumb. You accidentally run over your ball in the thick rough and get penalized? You probably have a worse lie now. That defines dumb.

Facts matter.

She ran over her opponent’s ball. And the lie is irrelevant because it would be put back as it should have been.

Some good reasons in match play not to have running over, stepping on, contact with the other player’s ball simply be a free pass because it was “accidental” vs. how it is treated in stroke play. Just have to think about it a bit.

I've watched everything except the championship (which I'm watching right now in fact) and can't say that I have noted any screaming or yelling outside the usual fandom of a competitive event.

Love watching this event every year.

That’s because outside of appropriate celebration when there was a team victory during the match play there wasn’t any - unfortunately just an anti-women troll job.

It was reported she ran over her own ball not zhang’s. At least I read it that way.

It all came down to Stanford's Rose Zhang and Oregon's Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen on hole 17 where Zhang was up 2. Zhang was able to close out Kibsgaard on 17 to win the national title. On that final hole, Kibsgaard was assessed a stroke-penalty for her push cart rolling over her ball prior to her second stroke. That gave Zhang a bit of breathing room in order to close it out.”

If I’m wrong don’t have to be such a snark about it

Wasn’t intended as snarky. No mention of the source of the misinformation before. But media was definitely sloppy in the reporting.

Yes, already posted.

The reporter got it wrong if he intended to suggest she didn’t run over Rose’s ball - so either written poorly or a mistake.
