Fake Scotty Cameron Cord Grip?

Hi all,

 

Want to get your input into this grip I’ve just taken delivery of from a Scotty Cameron Facebook group in the UK. I’ve been a huge fan of the Scotty Cameron cord grips in the past but having had a Superstroke for the last few years, I can’t recall the correct length, weight and quality of the grips.

 

Does anybody have a cord grip to hand they could measure? This one measures 25cm (just under 10 inches).

That is 100% fake.  The butt end of the grip is horrible!

Yeah bad fake. There's been a huge rush of fake Scotty cord grips pop up in the last year or two.

I’ve got one of those grips on a 2011 Scotty Cameron which I purchased new from a major golf store. So I know it’s authentic.

This grip measures 10 1/4” or 26 cm top to end of grip.

The font looks thin compared to a real one, in my opinion of course.

Thanks all, I suspected it was fake but this confirms my suspicions. Thankfully I didn’t pay too much for it. 
 

I’m based out of the UK, does anyone know the best place to source Scotty grips?

that’s a bad one. And that’s the problem nowadays. So many fake ones on eBay etc.  

 

Best bet is trusted seller with lot of good feedback. Sometimes they don’t even know they have a fake lol

I’m also uk based and I’ve just decided to pay a little more and take it to my local pro that I trust. Too many fakes knocking about

Of course the question has been thoroughly answered....but I heard someone say "when it looks like bacon, it's definitely fake" and that has always stuck with me, haha.

All kinds of fake old-style Full Cords making their rounds on eBay too.  I got one from a listing saying it was 10 1/4 inches and that it was used/pulled.  It's 10 inches on the nose and there are all kinds of differences between it and an authentic one I have on a putter.

Sorry to resurface this but I’ve got one with kind of shaky cord but it’s 10.25. Curious if it’s just trying to hit the length but not the cord job. Cord isn’t as pronounced on the sides.

The amount of cord definitely varies in Scotty grips. Post a pic of the grip and the butt end if you can.

Looks like a fake to me

I just picked up a "fake" Scotty Cameron cord grip off Aliexpress. I believe "real" ones go for around $125 US and I think I paid around $8 for mine. 

 

Even looking at the photos here, I can barely discern the difference between the real and fake ones. 

 

If anyone has a real one and a set of calipers, let's compare measurements.

I'm sure dimensionally they're close - a 3D scanner gets all that right.  It's the BS materials used in the fakes that's the issue - they'll degrade and get slick / hard in no time versus the real stuff.   You'll get stray cords that'll pop out of the rubber real fast

I was talking about the red one but that one is too 

the butt end pix are most obvious. 
look at the font, the hole and the shape of the butt end
