Lexi the closer she is to the lead, the later on a Sunday the harder it is for Lexi to putt, she really feels the pressure.

 

Watching the coverage yesterday, when Brooke missed a couple short putts late at least one of them brought to mind a discussion they were having on air last week or the week before about some other player, how they were working on keeping from raising up during the putting stroke (now that I think about it, I think it was Mina Harigae at the U.S. Open).   On one of the last couple holes you could see the top of the grip rise up noticably, it also made for a short, quick stroke and a left miss.  When she cleaned up, no such issue.

 

Which is a very long way of saying that if Brooke can stay on top of little techinical things like that her stroke does look good left hand low.

 

As for Lexi, I really think that her current putter and stroke are looking good.  But in case (and this may well be true of Brooke also) it's not fully ingrained and I bet it doesn't feel natural to her.  So it's easy for a flaw to creep in and then boom she's missing putts in volume.  She's obviously working on it a ton and the rest of her game is in great shape.  Would not be surprised in the least if Lexi takes it down.

Brooke is fine when for lack of a better term her putting is neutral, meaning no 3-putts costing her strokes or failing to convert great recovery shots when you miss a greens.  She lets too many of those get away to often the last couple years and her 3-putts, well I don't have the numbers but the total amount of bogies Jin Young Ko has made all season is probably way too close to the number of actual 3-putt bogies Brooke has this season lol.

 

Today is actually a good day for Lexi, she may be too far behind, but the way Brooke won last week is usually the way a good struggling player breaks out.   Drops something really low and hope to catch the leaders sleeping.

This has gotten really interesting. USS Kupcho engaged the bilge pumps, and continued sailing ahead. Not sure why it takes 90 seconds to pull the trigger on a medium length putt, though. 

 

Nelly off today, but hanging in there. 

 

Lexi charging, but oh those short putting woes. 

 

Not sure if Lydia, Brooke, or Leona can chase down the leaders, but they're fighting.

Charley is fast, but Nelly is the poster child for efficient play. I don't consider her fast, she just doesn't mess around. Since she's typically ahead of her playing partners off the tee, she gets her club selection sorted out at the same time as the other player(s), and just gets on with it. Bra. Vo.

Jennifer sure seems to have turned the corner since her ANA, err, Chevron victory. Prior to that you'd basically expect her to melt on Sunday. She's making key putts for par that would have previously missed the hole.

But that is not what your proposition was.  Your proposition was that Lexi lost her nerve and therefore finished second.  But Jack finished second plenty of times too and it is not attributed to a loss of nerves.  🙂 

 

I just think it was a little harsh on Lexi in that she didn't lose her nerve everytime she finished second . . . sure sometimes her putting went south down the stretch on the testy 3-4 footers, but other times, she wasn't the leader and was making a charge.  That means she was playing aggressively.

I never knew that listening to Led Zeppelin was such a problem and Lydia does get a whole lotta love from everyone so I can't imagine her being poisoned from that. 🙂 😂     Now if you were referring to Leadbetter, then I would agree 😛 😄
