Dicks Glove Insurance

Recommended Posts

My first post and wanted to give my experience on dicks glove insurance.

I burn through a glove every 3 weeks so I bought the insurance plan for $4. I attempted the first claim with asursion. The problem is that it’s inside the dicks return window. So I took it to the store. I was thinking, “why buy the insurance if I can just return inside the return window.”  So Dicks figured that trick out.  You can’t return golf gloves without insurance.

I was able to exchange my torn glove in store and got a new one the same day but only because I had the insurance plan. When I exchanged it, I had to pay an additional $4 for a new insurance plan on the fresh glove.

This all seemed entirely too confusing at first but I like a good hustle from big box stores.

Long and short. If you buy a glove and the insurance, you can continue getting a fresh glove for $4 every time. If you damage the glove outside of the 60 day return, then you have to process through the insurance company.

I hope this helps. And I’m sure, it’s gonna be different at every store because well, that’s how the world works now. 🤣

thanks for the forum. Looking forward to being a part of the madness.

There is a separate company you need to deal with after 60 days just to return a glove? That sounds like a lot of trouble to go through, probably easier to just get a new glove.

I'm surprised the store isn't just selling fake insurance and figuring the math will work in their favor. A store around here was caught doing that a few years ago, they had fake insurance/warranties they were selling

Yeah, I'm with everyone else in this thread. Not going to bother with the hassle of having to go to the store and/or deal with a separate company.

My recommendation: MG Golf's Dynagrip Elite. Excellent glove, 8 bucks a pop, quick shipping. I don't think I'll go back to $15+ gloves.

I sometimes buy the titleist players glove from Dicks sporting goods because I normally wait until the last minute when I absolutely need one and can't wait for shipping. They do always offer me the insurance on a golf glove and got me thinking how that would actually work, the gloves do wear out in like 30 days or so. They are expensive too like 25 for the players glove but again not really sure how it would work? I mean gloves are going to wear out with use.

Pretty interesting concept for us folks with simulators. I typically use the Costco gloves as they're cheap and hold up really well - but being able to use a thinner, better fitting glove for practice (Costco are a little thick and run large for me) is a pretty cool idea.

On the flip side, it does sound like a bit of a hassle and it costs at least $30 to start your car these days - so the calculus gets challenging.  😄

Initially I don’t see how this is any deal, seems to complicated for what is a disposable item..  So you get a $20 glove + $4 insurance.  Then you make a warranty claim and have to pay another $4.  If you are outside the return window, how long is the process for them to send you a new glove or the money for it.  Seems like a hassle.

  • 1 year later...

I haven't ripped a glove since I switched to Finger10. My last glove had over 100 rounds and I changed only because I got a grey one. 🤣

They aren't for everyone, but at less than $5 each and over a year of golf, I don't even think about my glove and I always have a new one in the bag even though I've never needed it. I wash it every few rounds, but it doesn't get sweaty either.

I’m reluctant to share my experience - this is such a great deal, I don’t want it to end.

  • buy your glove, buy the $4 insurance.
  • when the glove is worn, I take it back to Dicks or a golf Galaxy
  • Just tell the cashier you need a warranty claim
  • go get a new glove - any glove
  • they just punch it up on the computer, I sign a receipt.
  •  Do a new transaction for the warranty on a new glove. $4

there’s no inspection, no paperwork. I take my glove(s) in when they’re a little crispy or even discolored. And I now wear $22 Callaway Tour gloves about every 5-6 rounds.

My son told me about this a year or so ago.  He does it because he has the same issue.  He goes to the range  a lot and burns through gloves.  So he's been doing it for over a year now.

The issue with this program is the inconsistency.  I have been using it for two years, and like many others just keep the receipt and the case the glove comes in and exchange it for a new one each time. That said, Golf galaxy says they misunderstood the program which it seems like so many locations have. The real program is for you to return the glove and you file a claim to the insurer and they send you a gift card eventually in which you can go buy a new glove. To me that’s not worth the hassle.  The problem is some stores still do it the easy way and some don’t. It’s all kind of up to what your store does and whether it’s worth it or not.
