Recent Fred Couples WITB?

Does anybody know what clubs Fred Couples used to win the SAS Championship??  It looked like he had a Taylormade Stealth 5 or 7 wood in the bag.  I assumed that club replaced the hybrid because I saw him teeing off with the Callaway Squareway...

Yep I saw that video on one of my feeds. One WRX member mentioned on the tournament thread that one of his wedges was a TM ATV

Can't seem to find any more recent Fred Couples WITB on here or elsewhere.  PGA Tour Champions released a good couple of minutes video of him testing a three wood last week.  Always has an interesting bag equipment wise.

Current WITB:

Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond 3+ - Ventus Velocore Blue TR 7X

Taylor Made UDI 2 - Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 100 6.5

Pretty sure he still plays Bridgestone irons, Tensei Blue in the driver and Bettinardi putter.  GolfWRX did have some WITB for a Champions Tour event, but Freddie was not one of them.  I love the WITB pics.  Just wish there was more Champions Tour stuff.  Guess I'm getting old.

One reason you don't see many updated WITB for Couples (besides the fact that no one really covers the Champions Tour that often) is he doesn't let anyone shoot his bag.

Superstition or just doesn't like people touching his clubs?

I could see that. He makes his living with them so I get it. He seems so laid back about other stuff though it's a little surprising to me that he's that guy. I would have expected it more from a Tiger Woods type. Appreciate the ones you do get though! Keep up the great work.

I caddied in his group years ago in a practice round.  LaCava was his caddy at the time, great guy btw. His particular issue is that he doesn't want anyone touching his grips.  Doesn't want anyone getting sweat, oil, sun screen, etc on them.  I assume part of his sensitivity on this is due to not wearing a glove.

When he played the PGA Tour and Joe was his caddied I was able to shoot the WITB.  It's just since he's been playing the Champions Tour and then goes back to play out on the PGA Tour every now and then.

I don't wear a glove either so I could totally see that side of it. I use the roughest cord grips I can find though. Never figured out how he does it with those tour velvets.

Good day, I have noticed that there are different versions of Freddie Couples WITB from 2022. Can anyone clarify which set is actually his right now? Any information will be appreciated. Many thanks

My post from earlier in the thread was accurate as of his last tournament in 2022.

He opened the 2023 season last week in hawaii. Still had the same old bridgestone irons in the bag and had the new stealth 2+ driver with the tensei pro blue shaft. Didn’t see the rest of the bag from the tv coverage.

THIS!

You all may or may not know that Freddie is the one of the first people that I remember that would fist-bump. It is like he invented it (along with Howie Mandel). He has said that he started fist bumping because he is hyper vigilant about oils, sunscreen, etc. on his hands due to not wearing a glove. He said that he walked onto the 1st tee once and the starter shook his hand right after they had applied sunscreen. Fred said it then got all over his grips and he was ruined for the day and vowed to never shake someone’s hand again before a round.

How do you know they are soft stepped?

He talked about his irons when he made the change to SF i110 X flex.  It made golf news because FC was a diehard steel DG X-flex user.

Anyone know what lie angle has for his irons? E.g. 6 iron.

Otherwise, is he relatively flat or upright?

In an article stating he flew to AZ to test Ping lst and i210 irons, they claim the ping rep stated “a tad flatter.” 7i lie angle is 62* normally so guess what you will.
