Jason Dufner with Cobra AeroJet Driver & 3 wood - 2022 RSM Classic

Recommended Posts

Should have just posted pictures of their new driver and leave JDufner's name out of it. Cobra has always made some nice drivers but what's up with them doing away with the milled face drivers. Makes me wonder why they even thought about coming out with them in the 1st place as I wasn't big fan of them

That seems to be part if the mystery/tech story. I asked cobra earlier this year in a AMA thread why bryson played a non milled version but never got an answer.  Some speculated it was a durability thing because of his speeds. But knowing bryson, he wants retention across the face and maybe this non milled version has something that gives it an edge.

Why leave his name out? They’re his clubs

Simple, it's like when you mention his name with Cobra people expect him to do well especially when a new product comes out. In his case he hasn't played well most of the year and to post something about a new product with him switching and once again it's the same result....another missed cut. Too me leave his name out and maybe their won't be as much pressure on him as his issues of the past to include his past neck injury as I would want people to back off. He will definitely will not help sales for Cobra as we all know Bryson's earlier comment about his driver sure didn't help either.  Nothing against JDufner as I'm sure he is a very likable guy. Talk about how awesome this new driver is and maybe after he starts making a comeback in his game then see if he is willing to talk about it.

I'm digging the look so far but am still waiting to hear what's different overall from the current LTDx LS.  On the outside, not much looks changed other than the milled face has gone away and of course the shape of the weights is different.

There are a few minor tweaks to the LTDx LS. They have a new bracing system and a few other things that help with ball speeds and forgiveness.

I've always hated rails, with the fact that they raise the face from a normal fairway lie

Agreed, I think I'm the one person on earth who can't hit their FW or Hybrids due to that.  Have tried almost every version of them each year, and I just don't get along with them.  Which is a shame, as I love the driver and irons.

Wasn’t this the name of the TM line a few years back that flopped?  I only say that because people sometimes don’t have as short a memory as we would hope.

I would be worried if that negative bias based on the name.

cobra has such good equipment.

You're thinking of the AeroBurner.   But yes very close in name, and some will probably make that association.

"Aero Jet", man... .seriously?  I thought we were done with these ridiculous names for golf clubs like they are a fancy toy for a child.  I like the looks of some of Cobra's stuff, but maybe they should try new naming conventions and get out of the Callaway/TM closet!

Is "Stealth/SIM" or "TSr" or "STZ 220 G" or "g430 LST" or literally any other name really any better?  AeroJet does not sound any more ridiculous than any of the other offerings currently on the market.

I am here too... I have the Cobra SZ and love the look but never liked the new heavy two piece looking head. Makes me think of the taylormades and I cant do those. Fairway looks nice enough.. I love my Cobras but might be going Titleist TSr next

That probably saves them a ton of weight to use elsewhere.

To do what with. Can't think of a better way to lower COG then to weld two strips of metal to the bottom of the club.

I don't know what their plan is. That is just what makes sense sense to me. I could totally be wrong. It is just that in my discussions with club designers, one thing they are always looking for is discretionary weight. Weight that they can decide what they want with. The more flexibility they have the more fun it is for us.
