2023 cobra irons in hand

Just FYI, these will be at Club Champion by end of month. Same with the ZX7 MKII and new TM line (some of them may already be in - not sure).

I hit the CB today and they’re very very nice. Going to have a set built and see how it goes. They’re clean and feel great.

I hit the new King Tour last night. I’m a bit surprised they’re available in stores already given the upcoming pre-release, but won’t complain. 
 

i like the head shape. A tad larger than T100, similar to Pro223. I got good distance out of them, spin seemed a bit on the lower end but still acceptable (will be 500rpm higher outside and can be managed with a spinnier ball). 
 

feel was good, but I actually liked the MIM Tour feel better (even though it was not forged). It’s definitely on par with the Pro223, but not the softest I’ve ever hit. Feel wise I like T100 less than the Cobra.

Was your comparison to T100 or T100S? I ask because the T100 7iron loft is 34* while the new Cobra Tour Iron 7iron is supposed to be 32*, which is on par with the 223 and T100S.

no, they seemed very solid and distance was super repeatable. Carry on 5 shots was all between 165-170.

It was to t100. I looked at distance relative to loft and all performed as expected. Had a bit more of a left tendency with the t100, cobra straight, mizuno slightly right - probably due to lie angle. 
 

The Cobra definitely fits right into that bracket, with ZX7 and P770 as other options.

Gosh there’s a lot to like about these irons. I’m only a year removed from having Cobra irons in the bag and they might be making a quick return. Is anyone else having a hard time justifying the CB’s when Fowler is playing a full set of Tours or is it just me?

Are these Tours somewhat similar to i230s, design/tech-wise? 

 

Cobra seems to be talking in its marketing about the TPU in them to help sound/feel, much like Ping touts elastomer in their i2XX series. The insert goes in a similar spot. It looks like those inserts are similarly positioned and they both have a badge covering them. 

 

But it's hard to tell based on the pictures how their size compares.

Yes similar, but someone correct me if im wrong, tungsten in pings, none in cobras. Cobras forged, pings not.

For those in the know, or better yet whom have test drove this new series where does the new King Tour fit into the lineup?  You have the MB and CB...pretty standard definition.  Then you have the Tour sitting between the CB and the Tech.  Do they really need this iron?  Or is it Cobra's players distance iron?  It wouldn't seem to be the case as Ricky is playing the Tours.  Also, the marketing material indicated that the Tour is targeted at the 10-scratch player.  Am I missing something?  

 

Also, how would it compart to the Srixon ZX7?  As forgiving/not?

Forged Tec are hollow and with stronger lofts (29.5 vs 32). Tour is solid construction, but more forgiving than CB and slightly larger profile.

 

Tour to me is similar to ZX7, Mizuno Pro 223, Titleist T100(s).
